Had a Petri mech clone that has been troublesome with hot switch issues.
No joy from retailer with advice on possible fixes.

So, narrowing it down, is it worth finding a coating for the spring to stop the shorting. Say either a laquer coat or some plastic stuff?
Or is it worth trying to get some sparky tape on the bits where it touches the housing?

or is it resigned to being a decoration like the other failures?

Not sure where it touches? Not a mech man.

If it is outside of the spring what about a bit of a juice straw? Visit to MacDonalds and other establishments to find the correct diameter?

If it is the ends cut a couple of circles of plastic? From a Chinese takeaway container (not aluminium ones :18:).

Switch to magnets if you can find a couple to fit.
I've always found that a hot button is down to some shit on the threads, have you cleaned everything?
