I have thought on this a few times, why is a Mech most of the time costs more then a (eg) Sub ohms Vape Kit that may have chips and circuits ?

I imagine because they aren't mass produced as the demand is much lower.

Quite a lot of the mechs are built from more costly materials with some beautiful designs. Mine is solid brass and heavier than any other vape I own. It seems they're not making as many as they used to now though, making them more of a rare commodity.

There are mass produced "cheap" mechs like the dreamer
And more expensive and exclusive mechs like the ghost ship barebones.

What it comes down to is less about materials used. and more about branding and exclusivity.
That combined with fit and Finnish
Look at the atlas mech, some of them are made out of delrin yet it costs more than the ghost ship and the dreamer combined.
Mostly because they're sexy and there aren't that many of them.

A lot of the machining that goes into mechs in incredibly precise (they have to be in order to prevent an accident). If you’ve ever used a Kennedy mech, they’re pricey but the threads literally glide and they’re all hand turned. mass produced mechs aren’t too bad, I’ve got a black on black arcless with a CSMT 2 I come back to a lot. Chips and sub ohm tanks can’t beat a mech and good RDA.

I have the arcless too. Great mech, served as my daily banger for well over a year, first with the Asgard Mini then with the Valkyrie Mini. nothing else I had could even come close to the performance of it.
I didn't really like the Kennedy that I had it was oddly balanced and the rda was terrible imo.
Smoothest threads I ever had on a mech is the barebones.
Sadly it became a display piece when 20700 got phased out by 21700
