Hey all. Had anyone found that they suffer with mouth sores/ulcers from vaping. Quit smoking 3 months ago and been vaping since, but i have been suffering with mouth sores the whole time. I have read that this can be caused by vaping dehydrating your mouth. Anyone have any suggestions ?

Yup... I've had a few. The one that scared me the most was a blood boil near the roof of the mouth. The typical white caps and blisters seem to set in the first month but they quickly receded. I have been told to brush more often, drink lots of water and to see a dentist to get my teeth cleaned. (Which is a great idea for anyone who quits smoking) The best advice I have heard was changing the PG/VG blend to a higher VG. IE; 30/70 or 20/80. Some have even mention going 100% VG. In my own experience, the 30/70 blend seems to help, but I've only been doing that for a few weeks, so the jury is still out on that theory. My doctor did tell me that he wants to be kept in the loop, since cancer runs pretty high in my family and that he really has not seen a lot of good factual studies for long term use of e juice.

Is there different types/brands of PG? If so, how do they vary?

It's more that different vendors have different PG / VG ratio's, plus you could also be allergic to an ingredient in flavouring if you use on flavour on a daily basis...

Im using mostly id premium e liquid. But have tried various makes trying to find one that i can like. FLAVaah mentol i used last night and mouth sores quite bad today. First time using this one. How can i find out the break down of the pre mixed liquid? Doesnt say it on the bottle. Its a 9mg flavour.

Normally just stay on tabbacco or coffee flavour and sores arent too bad then. Just fancied a change. Maybe wasnt a good idea

Same here: my daily go to is a peach menthol.... The other blends is from local brick and mortar. The menthol peach I'm using is from Niquid. Do think we could be having a reaction from the menthol?
Also, I just started using the peach menthol about 6 weeks ago. About 3 weeks into it the sores became more prevalent. I never was a menthol fan when I was a smoker.

Tubby is of course correct (also see Rule No.1 on his posts! :D )

Pure PG will always have the same chemical formula (see the Wikipedia entry for Propylene Glycol as I can't get it to write correctly here), it will be pharmaceutical grade and so in theory of the purest quality; so even though it can of course be produced by different chemical manufacturers, it will always be the same stuff. When you start to mix your own juices you can ask your supplier for the Materials Safety Data Sheet for PG, which is the standard dos and don'ts of the chemical itself (mostly boring unless you are a chemist/H&S professional).

Getting back to mouth sores, ulcers et al, I get them when I haven't hydrated enough: my mouth gets dry and I accidently bite the inside of my mouth and tongue, or it can even happen just from your teeth rubbing on the inside of your cheeks or lips. I use chlorhexidine mouthwash (the generic version of Corsodyl) and Bonjela and make sure I drink plenty of water, and they clear up in a few days. I'm not sure if the products are available under the same names in the USA, but there will be something similar you can purchase.

Thank you LilyRed for that clarification. I was beginning to get worried, especially since I'm wanting to get into mixing myself. I am concerned about the menthol, but I really like that flavor that I'm using. I think it maybe time to switch out and try something else and see if things reside. I hate to admit it, but I'm becoming quite a snob when it comes to flavors. Just the other day I tried a chocolate mint a friend had made. Everyone loved it, except me... It tasted like kissing an old women drinched in rose water and Avon Makup. Blah! Now that I'm looking back on it, I'm kinda wondering if I'm suffering from the taste duds.
