A Devon MP has rejected public health officials' advice that electronic cigarettes should not be used by people who want to give up smoking.

E-cigarettes are battery-operated devices producing vapour that contains nicotine.

Torbay's public health team has advised people to use patches and gum instead.

But former GP Sarah Wollaston, the Conservative MP for Totnes, said she thought e-cigarettes were an important tool for people trying to quit smoking.

They seem to be stating the MHRA medical regulations in 2016 as a fact but my understanding is that this is still up for debate?

Listened to this on the way into work today. The presenter opened the subject of the pros and cons of ecigs to the public for discussion but I missed any comments that came in.:(

I too keep hearing this "MHRA are making e-cigs into medicine in 2016" when reading various media reports, yet I too understood it was still up for debate.

Unless we can allow e-cigs to fall under MHRA control, but keep our APV(advanced personal vapourizers)out of their clutches we're all going to be buying in nicotine from outside the morons(EU)dictat!
