Mushroom mod refurbishment advice

May save on cleaning, but copper is cheap and easy to work with.
I would go with copper to, much easier to work with than SS
Yeah I hear what you say...suppose stainless steel could break quite easy...it's not really very malleable. I would quote, if it ain't broke don't fix it, but that would be a lie in this instance lol

Anyone have any ideas on the best place to pickup copper sheet for a good price?

The design specs for the mushroom use 1mm copper, wonder if I could get away with something thinner

Well no going back now...copper sheet, stepped bit, tin snips, MM510 with washer and large nut ordered...need some two part epoxy for the magnets but I can grab that from anywhere!

don't know if this will help or not bud, but here's a pic of the internals i put in my mushroom. not my finest work, but i did make it at me desk in work hahaha

i run the battery positive down and the double sided tape behind the bottle holds it (https://www.fasttech.com/products/3021/10035541/7762301) to the window so it's not rattling about in there.

Nice one...I was thinking of doing the contacts that way, it just seems to make more sense than the original way. I know it is purely mechanical but do you flip your battery as well?

Thanks for the bottle suggestion as well, wasn't sure with the new 510 what would fit...worth chucking a 5 pack in the basket me thinks

it did to me n'all. yeah i use it positive down, as i didn't like the idea of the positive pointing at me chin whilst in use.

to be fair the print on this is to take the mm510, but only real difference i can see is the size of the hole and recess for the 510 which you can sort with the step bit.

i really like the bottles, but some say they are too soft. the contact does come pretty damn close to the metal cap of the bottle, which is why i've taped it. will be wrapping the hole thing at some point, but this was just to get me going.

Highly recommend fitting a MM510.
Had a mushroom printed for @dismal_fett in which he fit a mm510, maybe he can offer some advice :)

EDIT: forget that, didn’t realise he already posted here hahahaha

OK so this is where I am at with my mushroom refurb...this is, by no means, a clean build as I am missing tools such as correct abrasives and a Dremel would have been nice to have [emoji16] but frankly its my first attempt and it bloody works and vapes...can't be fairer than that.

Waiting on some JB weld 2 part for the magnets which should be here in the next couple of days, squonk bottles arrived this morning which are perfect.

Was having issues with the 510 plate not sitting flush and lower than the mod surface but I managed to re-engineer an ABS insulator washer to fit beneath the plate to raise it up slightly and actually I am now happier that it sits very slightly higher by a half mm for heat dissipation. The MM510 BF connector installation was a breeze apart from the above

Also added some foam padding so the bottle is more snug.
