Hello there,

Thought I'd just post my thoughts on my brief vaping journey so far.

I started smoking some 27 years ago and was a enthusiastic roll-up fan. We'd take a trip to Belgium at least twice a year to stock up on tobacco and I was rather resistant to the idea of vaping. I couldn't really see the point when I have about 2 kilos of tobacco in my stash at any one time. I used to smoke at least 20-25 or so roll-ups every day.

I was talking to my mate who recently started vaping and thought I'd give it a go.

Now, I am a man. I enjoy gadgets. I enjoy hobbies.

So last Saturday, I bought a CE5 Ego starter and thought that this would be a fad and it would end up in my cupboard.

WRONG!

Since last week, I have had less than 10 roll-ups and none at all since Tuesday. Took a couple of drags on Wednesday morning and nearly threw up...

So, I'm not quite sure how this has happened, but it would appear that I have packed in the fags!

Also, I have amassed a fair few bits and pieces like nasty CE4s (not good!), a couple more CE5s (better) and today, my first EVOD. My word, what a difference.

I'm still on 20mg cool menthol (from vapours4u, my local vape shop) so I've not completely done away with the nicotine, and I'm sure that I'll reduce that in a few weeks time, but I'm really rather pleased with myself. I expect that I'll fall off the wagon at some point, but I fully intend to carry on.

Now, I'm looking at recoils, mods, DIY juice etc. As I said, I do enjoy a hobby!

Anyway, I thought I'd keep a bit of a running diary.

Thanks for all the advice so far, and I hope to become an active participant of the forum and the scene in general.

Your story so far mirrors so many including my own started vaping last October and it has taken over all things i have loads of mods loads of attys started coiling, been mixing my own juice for a while now (18mg by the way) now i am just getting into dripping and thats another wow moment, i dont even think about smoking now its just weres the next mod/atty/dripper comming from

Welcome to the Planet.

Don't worry about reducing the nicotine level too much, but if you do want to reduce it you can do it slowly, possibly by getting a lower nic juice of the same flavour and mixing that with your current juice to reduce by a mg or two a week, rather than dropping down to say 15mg in one go.

Nicotine isn't a problem by itself, but if you reduce too quickly you'll just end up vaping more and spending more on juice.

Yup, some parts of your story are quite commonplace with smokers giving up without too much trouble. No need to fall off any wagons either if you want to pursue the vaping. It worked for me after 27 years smoking rollies & two attempts at champix tablets in two years. Each time the meds finished i wen back on the smokes & then i found vaping & havn't looked back, no messing. Best of luck to you, there are benefits to be had.

Welcome here. I am new as well and everyone is really nice on this forum.
I wouldn't worry too much regarding the reducing of nicotine, if you are doing well on this level. (I started too high and was permanently dizzy, bit like when you drink too much vodka too quick).
You could just sell all your tobacco, that should keep you going with new vaping gear for a while :-D

:welcome2: to POTV,I had been smoking rollies for 35+ years, was getting through more & more tobacco until I was murdering 50g in under 2 days.I tried a cig-a-like,it reduced my smoking somewhat,so bought a couple of clearo's & ego batteries.I then sat & vaped through various juices & suddenly realised I'd never touched a rolly in days so dragged the last of a pouch out the drawer & destroyed it chain-smoking it all before I went to bed, next morning I resumed vaping & never bothered with a smoke since.

Hi there

Your story is similar to mine, I decided to give vaping a go alongside my numerous roll ups, started on New Years Eve and then the next day I realised I had not had a roll up!! I am now 19 day tobacco free and am loving it!! I have thought about a roll up on more than one occasion but have still not had one and dont see that I will anytime soon.

I have gone from 50+ a day to nothing

Well done you :2thumbsup:

Well done on giving vaping a chance! One less Rollie is better than nothing, and glad you managed to make a full day without touching one. Me and the husband came across it by accident and decided there and then to just quit the fags. So next day all tobacco evidence was removed and vaping commenced. Haven't looked back since, that was 3 months ago. I hit a rough spot about two weeks in but the lovely people here helped me through it and I'm happy to say I still haven't had a stinky in 12+ weeks. Good luck hun and wait till you discover mods and step up, things just get so much better!

Very similar story to myself.

Started on a cheap CE4. Then EGO/CE5 before discovering cotton wicked EVODs on VW devices (MVP2 and SID).
Then came the shiny mechs/RBA/RDA :)

I didn't initially start vaping to stop smoking. I thought the PV would be handy for stealth 'smoking' but quickly discovered I didn't need to burn tobacco. I didn't have the pressure of trying and, more than likely, failing to stop smoking. It happened naturally.

I don't suppose I've saved any money at all (I could easily have done so but regard vaping as a hobby).

And the best thing? I'm a part of a fantastic community. You'll get any help/advice required here.

I've read a few stories now where people have unintentionally given up smoking. I've never heard of anyone doing that with NRT gums and patches.
Well done mate. :)
