only worry I've got is if I wick it wrong, but what i'll do is, pick up some cheap cotton just to play around with, make a coil, just keep threading cotton through it until I think I've got it right

Wicking is dead easy bud. Get some cotton bacon or fiber freaks no 1. It will last ages. I mean ages I go through a pack a year.
