Could really do with a kick in the right direction on how to remove the undercrackers off the 510 connection on my sigelei 30w mini box

I've stripped it to this point, in the pic. The black box is under the 510 and I don't really know what to do with it next in order to remove it and the 510 gubbins it shrouds.

I have a replacement 510 from FT, not unlike the fat daddy vapes version I believe, and it has a, I think, 22mm landing pad.

I have read about having to 'punch out' the 510 but I'm guessing at exactly how to go about it, what exact tools to employ, and whether I can swerve disconnecting the other end to facilitate complete removal of the board with exsiting 510 attached. How does that black box underneath come off? I've removed one retaining screw from it, can't see any others. Can't seem to get it off.....?

I would appreciate any advice as this is my first forray into the innards of regulated devices and I would really like to make this a successful repair. This was my first box mod and a relatively discreet little number that I want back on active duty. If you can help, I'd be mighty grateful!

Thanks!
MM

Sussed it. Concealed screw and glue. Now going to attempt to drill out and trim up the underside of the top of the box to receive a new 510 connector....

Let me know how you get on mate. The threads on mine went the other week. I have since bought a sig 75w but would be interested in fixing the 30w if possible. Its a nice small box for out and about. Thanks

Successfully installed a new 510 last night with much fannying about and grinding stuff to get it back together, well I thought all was successful but the atty fires as soon as I screw it on so I've shorted it somehow. I have a couple of black round insulators that didn't go back in to the positive connection assembly it's so long since i took it apart I can't remember what position they go in. My work area was so cluttered I never found them until I cleared up at the end! Doh!

Would you say its worth doing? Im sure you can pick these up for £30 or less now? I mean was it worth the time and stress or would you rather of paid the £30 and not had to deal with it lol

Prob not worth it as my time is money and I've put more than £30 of time into it but I wanted to see if I could do it and to get a taste for whether I could be arsed to build my own box mod in the future. The jury is still out on that one. Once I started though I was loathe to give up!

I should add that the time taken was in trying this and that before sussing the best way, if I were to do it again I could obviously do it much quicker and there's no soldering involved either. As I tend to undertake these endeavours late in the day with a couple of golden throat charmers down me I neglected to make a note of where the plastic yokes sit within the puzzle. Do you reckon you could be arsed to disassemble the innards of the black plastic cover shown in my original post and either do what I should have done and take a pic or describe their exact order to me? I'd be happy to describe how I arrived at this stage shown the next pic below, which is

...pressed send by mistake.....
... Which is as near as dammit finished for a low cost other than some time.

Could do with some help to recover the fatal blunder of having 2 black discs left over, one way or another, are you up for getting involved old chap?

Thanks

Jake O thanks for sending over your sig mini for me to rummage inside. You is a top geeza innit! I have now made a note of how the 7 pieces go back together inside the 510 connection so I can now get mine back together properly.

I've inspected your failed 510 thread and it's in relatively good nick ie there are still plenty of thread grooves remaining it's mostly the bottom few that have stripped. Therefore I think that the best way to get yours back on active duty is via the heat sink method:

I have 4 from FT and have fitted one on your sig and it has twisted home nice and firm and the mod is working as it should be now. I reckon that's the way forward with yours as the threads on mine were well past this solution. Nice to do might be to reinforce the heatsink with a couple dots of glue but only if it becomes absolutely necessary as the 510 pin is adjustable not spring loaded and glueing it on might generate problems if you change attys and can't take it off to make an adjustment.

If you want though I will hack away at the top cap and fit a new 510 like mine but I don't think it needs this drastic action.

What do you wanna do bud will i send you it back with the heatsink on and we will see how it fares? If it fails you can send me it back and I'll try the riskier method at a later date.

No money or strings attached for any of this in return for you lending me your mod mucker. Thanks again for that.

Cheers
MM
