Hi all,

New to this site, stumbled across while doing some research on Vapes.

I am currently smoking and plan to quit, would like to get into vaping but finding the range of devices / terminology confusing!

I dont smoke that much , around 4-7 a day. Therefore i am looking for a kit that will help me quit and keep me of the cigs. Not looking to get a device that isn't too complicated etc.

A colleague at work recommends the Aspire Tigon, he has one and says its very easy and simple to use, does a good job. I have also seen the Aspire Zelos 2.0 kit for sale in my local vape shop.
Third device i have researched is Uwell Nunchaku which my bother in law uses.

Does anybody have any experience / thoughts on these devices and any helpful advice?

Probably the 1,000 person to post a similar thread on this but had no idea where to start!

Thanks all.

Hi and welcome pal, always hard getting started but you've made the right decision to get off the stinkies and there are alot of people on here to help

Ok firstly 2 different types of vaping which you need to decide what's best for you

MTL - mouth to lung - essentially the same as you would normally smoke a cigarette, drag into your mouth then inhale into your lungs, this style is more what you will get with both the aspire setups you mentioned above, these generally are used with 50/50 pg/VG ratio juices and the mods operate at a much lower wattage anywhere from 8-16w dependent on the coil and produce less vapour, additionally you can use alot higher nicotine strength

DTL- direct to lung - this is like sucking on a straw and you are inhaling it into your straight into your lungs sort of like a bong if you've ever tried one - this style would be as per the nunchaku you mentioned above, these operate at higher wattages dependant on the coil rating, generally the juices used in these are 30PG / 70VG ratio and generally most people won't go above 3mg nicotine strength in these as you are taking in alot more vapour and more nicotine so anything above 3mg nicotine strength will be very harsh and you'll probably get nic sick fairly quickly but some do at 6mg strength

All the above setups that you looked at will use stock coils which you buy and replace when it reaches the end of its lifespan or starts tasting burnt, I suspect you would probably start with stock coils then could progress into rebuildables at a later date once you know more and found your preferred vaping needs

Have a read around the new user forum section and you will find alot of information

When you have decided which style of vaping would suit you better then can ask for recommendations on vaping gear, juices etc but it took me about 3 or 4 goes to find a setup and juices that suits me

Now I generally DTL 3mg strength liquid in some setups and then I have a couple of MTL devices / pod systems for 20mg nic salt juices which give me a quick hard nicotine fix

Nic salts are very smooth and don't produce the same throat hit as normal nicotine

Hopefully that gets you started in the right direction and I'm sure others will offer some good advice too but have a good read through new users section and you will get a better idea

Thanks Cozy that's a real help mate.
Appreciate it.

Think MTL is my preferred style, certainly to start with.
Will take a look around and improve my understanding on it all.

If you smoke less than 10 a day, and you literally just want to use vaping to quit the cigs, I think each of those kits you’ve mentioned is more than you need. I would go for a relatively straightforward substitute for cigs like the K3 Kit or the Jac Vapour S17 -

Edit: Of those you’ve mentioned, I’d go for the Tigon, it does give you the option of trying mtl and dtl in one device. The Zelos 2 does to an extent, but the Nunchaku is direct to lung. You might find you prefer this style of vaping, but it will be less familiar to you as someone coming straight off cigs.

Hi and welcome new type person.
Can I suggest, (if you haven't already) that you see if your mate will let you have a go on his Tigon. Try before you buy sort of thing.

Have a look at the aspire pockex, cheaper than the tigon and fits in the palm of your hand.I have one for work and is ideal for me.Though a few vapers have had leakage problems with this kit i have had no trouble with mine and the coils last ages. Can pick one up for £16 ish.

Hi I'm relatively new to vaping to (since march) I started with the pockex and did have some leakage from it but not a huge amount. I caught shinyitis after a couple of weeks and upgraded to the tigon, cheaper coils than pockex. Currently using the tigon tank on a zelos mod I find this gives a more consistant vape than the tigon as its variable wattage and the tigon battery isn't.

Ideal for moving offa cigs. Nice size, well built and decent vaping experience. Plus you'll get a decent throat hit / nic hit that'll scratch that itch easy! Handled 18mg liquids with ease!
