Hi everyone, please be gentle with me, I am a complete newbie to mixing, got my stuff the other day and I am totally lost? this is what I have 1 bottle of nic at 60mg PG Base, 1 bottle of VG, 1 bottle of PG and three flavors Coconut, Chocolate and Strawberry. I did not get big bottle's because I wanted to see if I could mix myself. I downloaded the e-juice me up calculator and my goal is to make a 10ml bottle with a nic strength of 8mg, now after I add all the details it calculates the results and I mix it all up, but when trying it out I seem to get more of a taste of the PG or the VG if you know what I mean? what percentage of PG,VG and Flavor would be best. Thanks for any help. P.S the flavor's I tried to mix are 1 10ml Choc, and 1 10ml Coconut. when mixed and shook up they smell good in the bottle's but they don't taste like they smell at all.

dont forget to take into consideration that your flavours are in PG. Also, some, depending on manufacturer, do not come sweetened so you will need Sweetener and possibly Ehtyl Maltol to aid in binding the ingrediants together.

Flavour strength depends on a lot of factors but the main ones are manufacturers concentration and your own taste, some manufacturers say you should use as little as 5% flavour but a lot run at 15% to 20%, you may also find that your mix needs to steep for about a week but again this depends on the flavour...

Though I'm impatient and sometimes don't follow my own advice, steeping makes a huge difference.
I made a blend of Coffee, Cinnamon, Vanilla & Butterscotch, which had quite a harsh edge used straight away in a DCT - I used it occasionally, and as it matured in the tank over 2 or 3 weeks all the harsh edges softened and it resulted in a lovely smooth cinnamon coffee with strong caramel tones.
The problem for the newby is that you don't know until it's steeped whether it's going to be a nice flavour, so it really stalls your experiments when you have to wait 2 or 3 weeks before you really know whether that Pina Colada has the right amount of each flavour and you're free to make up some more or whether you need to tweak ingredients, wait and test again.
I've also found that I need to err towards 20%, maybe even slightly more, on most flavours to get a decent flavour hit - the only exceptions I've found in my 20 flavour concentrates are Mango and Pineapple, which would blow your head off at those percentages.
As you're currently using one flavour per blend, it's slightly easier in the sense that, after steeping, you will learn whether there's the right amount of flavour and whether you actually do like it - you don't need to start changing the ratio of flavours.
Your PG/VG ratios will also affect final hit. I tweaked a lot on that before I settled on a 50/50 mix, which doesn't have the harsh throat hit of standard pre-mixes.

Patience is the key, I've so far learned it's pretty much a waste of time trying a juice straight after mixing. One thing I would recommend is reading the flavour reviews on here, it gives you a good idea for starting %, it helped me a lot with inawerra flavours I thought were crap.

Depending on how many empty bottles you have you may want to consider 5ml mixes or less until you're happy with the results that way waste is minimal if you mess up. Oh - and +1 on the steeping - Welcome to the forum :)

I have a guide to mixing explaining all of the above, i don't know how to put the document on here, so if you PM me your email address, I will send a copy over.

As above you will need to let it steep for a minimum of 2 weeks maybe even longer for dessert type juices.

For a coconut mix at 70/30 mix u will need.

Nic 1.33ml
PG 3.67ml
VG 3.0ml
Coconut 2ml (20%)

PG gives you more flavour and throat hit, while VG will give you more vaper but does not carry flavours that well.

At some point I would also like to try mixing my own so I am interested in this thread to gather information.
Would you be so kind as to send me the document too, if I PM you my email address?

Thank you :)
