Hi everyone, I'll try be quick and not go on, first post but been browsing the last week since I started vaping. I got myself the cool fire 4 plus with the isub g tank.

I got some shop bought liquid from totally wicked, the red label bubblegum and the diavlo micky blue eyes

The red label I really didn't like and I think it was the pg as it's 50/50 mix, the diavlo was lovely, smooth.loads of taste and plenty of vapour

I've tried mixing my own and I'll post pics of the mixes I made to save typing it all out but 2 I tried today had a harsh taste to them and left me a bit chesty if that makes sense

I mixed some yesterday and tried the rhubarb And Custard today and it was harsh and not overly flavoursome, I mixed 40ml of heisenberg at 3% vg based nic with a 80/20 vg/pg ratio today that tasted OK but seemed to have a nicotine taste and really hit my chest

Could it be that I didn't shake the nicotine before adding ?

Can't post pics for some reason but all mixes are basically

3mg vg nic
80/20 vg/pg ratio
20% flavour
Making a 10ml bottle of mostly fruity and desert flavours

Any help greatly appreciated

There shouldn't be any need to shake the nicotine bottle before you use it. I assume you shook your liquid like a mad man once you had mixed it up because vg nic will need mixing well as its thick.
If you tried your custard mix the day after you did it then that's why it is lacking in flavour. Custards and creams need time. Give them at least 3 weeks to steep and shake them well every day if you remember.
Did you use a calculator to do your recipe and if so can you post it ? If you can taste nicotine, peppery taste, then are you sure you got your mix right ?

It's unlikely that it is because you didnt shake the nicotine but its a good habit to get into. You need to give the concentrates a good shake though, there is a much higher chance of separation with them. What concentration is your nic and how much did you put into the mix? If you're confident that you got all your calculations correct try mixing up a small amount with out any flavour to test the nicotine, there is a chance that you've just got a bad batch of nic

Sorry for the late reply mick, I read afterwards that not shaking the bottle of nic leaves you to add a higher % due to the vg and nic separating, here's the 2 recipes I used

Rhubarb And Custard
To make 10.0 mls @ 3.0 MG Nicotine(Mls)
Base Nicotine - 0.4
PG : - 0.0
VG : - 7.6
Rhubarb And Custard - 2.0
Total Flavouring - 2.0
Expected PG:VG Ratio - 15:85
Actual PG:VG Ratio - 21:79

Heisenberg
To make 40.0 mls @ 3.0 MG Nicotine(Mls)
Base Nicotine - 1.7
PG : - 0.0
VG : - 31.5
Heisenberg - 6.8
Total Flavouring - 6.8
Expected PG:VG Ratio - 15:85
Actual PG:VG Ratio - 18:82

I was stirring and shaking the bottles but not much room in the 10ml bottles to agitate the mix, hope that helps mate

Thank you

Hmmmm can't remember if I shock the concentrates, the nic is 72mg vg, all my measurements where spot on but I've got some more 20ml bottles so I'll try a few mixes without concentrate later to see how they pan out, gutted as I had to bin 100ml of different mixes [emoji34] and start again

Hmm , your recipes look about right. I don't shake my nicotine because I don't want to introduce air into it and haven't had any issues with my mixes but I do use pg based. Whether that makes any difference I'm not sure.

Your custard mix will definitely need a steep though.

The only other things I can think of are , and please don't take offence if you know this , how old is your coil ? I'm assuming you are using the 0.5 !
What wattage are you running it at ?
Innokin isub coils don't last that long and can give you a hint of that burnt taste every now and then when they start to gunk up. Didn't you say you tasted nicotine ? Is it , or is it the coil going !
Do you get the same taste when using shop bought liquid ?

I run my isub at 27.5 watts and get about a week or so out of it but I don't use it all the time , just when at work.

Don't bin them. Put them in a dark place for a month. They could improve.

The coil 1 week old and the second one in 10 days as I think I burnt the first one due to getting dry hits and a burnt taste after changing liquid, or it old have been the 50/50 mix and the fact the bubblegum flavour was awful.

I'm not entirely sure what the taste is but if you've ever been a smoker it's almost like you've had that 1 cigarrete that leaves an almost stinging feeling in your mouth and you feel chesty, hope that makes sense.

I am using the 0.5 coil and use it mainly between 20w and 25w, any higher and it feels to hot for me, God knows how people can vape as high as 70w, the drip tip burns me at 30w haha

Also I wasn't getting the same hits when using the diavlo 75/25 vg/pg mix, it's as smooth as anything and can easily vape for 4+ seconds no problem, with my mixes 2 seconds and the lung hit is to much
