Hi guys

so I stopped smoking about a year ago. I started off on the blu pod pens you can buy in a supermarket, then moved onto a T18ii and have recently bought the adept kit with a zlide tank. I have gone through one pack of 0.8 coils that I bought as replacements for when I used the ones provided. Everything was fine. I recently went to buy another pack, but they only had the 0.5ohm plexus coils which I bought. Since I’ve been using them I seem to be getting a lot of dry hits. So much so it’s putting me of using my vape. I used 50/50 juice so I don’t think the problem lies with that, I have it at the lowest wattage setting and I prime the coil well before I even think about vaping.
I never had this problem with the 0.8. Can anyone think of any reason this is happening or have any tips? I’d rather use the pack of coils I have bought before going back to my 0.8s!
Thank you :)

Hello @Shannon Dreelan and welcome to POTV :)

It could be as simple as it being a faulty coil. Maybe the wicking is packed too tight!

Try another and if that's the same then ask for different batch replacements from where you bought them.

Hi and welcome to the planet.

where did you buy the coils as there are a lot of fakes or clones out there.
ive not used that tank or coil so cant help much more than that.
as said it could just be a bad coil or even batch which does happen. worst ive had was 3 duff coils out of 5.

Hi and welcome. Can't really think of anything else to add. Hope you get it sorted and let us know how you get on.

As others have said it could be an issue with the cotton being too densely packed in the coil. Try poking some holes in the cotton of one of the coils with a safety pin to see if the cotton is too compact and preventing wicking. I’ve tried this and it can help.

But they should not be dry hitting, if you can’t get them wicking right take them back to the shop.

Good luck and let us know if you can solve the problem.

I find it can help to drip a few drops of juice inside a coil first to prime it better, which can make a difference.

÷1 on the poking holes in the cotton. Its not unheard of

If you were okay with the 0.8ohm coils then I'd go back to them.
The 0.5ohm ones will obviously vape differently because of the difference in resistance.
