Hi guys,

Just looking for some advice.

Not made a mod yet but interested in using a Wii controller.

A few questions,

Has anyone seen a tutorial?

And batteries, Is a removable 18650, or even dual 18650's an option? Or is Lipo the only way?

If I do have to go Lipo, which ones should I get?

Thanks,

Sam

Get a wii controller first on ebay and open it up and see what will fit.

I know others have used the turnigy 1200mah lipo's before.

As it takes 2 AA batteries, IIRC they are 14mm diameter. So as far as 18650's go, your only going to get the one in there :)

If the depth would allow, maybe a 26650 could be an option, not seen that done before on these.

2x turnigy 1200 mah round cells would also fit.

Finally......Heres a tutorial / layout someone provided on another forum.....wiimote guide.pdf (4,95 MB) - uploaded.net

Layout is a bit different from the one in the video, but at least gives an idea of the insides...

fasteddie600 has already made one of these I believe .. he would be the man to ask

Looking forward to seeing the finished product.. I would love one of these :)

First thing I would say is that although the wii remotes look very accommodating, they are definitely not! I found it a massive struggle getting DNA board wiring and an 18650 inside. Nearly all of the internal plastic bits/mouldings have to be taken out.
I would think LiPo batteries would make life easier but it's not easy build, especially if you want to use the existing switch positions. Making the fire button work on the back is a pig, and will require you to custom build a micros witch assembly and mounting.

I would suggest you take one to pieces first(you will need a tri-point screwdriver) and have a look. You will have to dump the existing wii board as it takes up nearly all the internal space.
