11am on the 11th of the 1st - BBC Northampton, Abington Street, Northampton

"We care, we are not going to go away. Section 18 has no part of the TPD because vaping is not a tobacco product, it's not a medicinal product it's a consumer product. There are 7,000,000 vapers in Europe, 1.5million in the UK, and these numbers are growing exponentially."

I am going to write to the newsdesks of the Chron, the Herald, the BBC and ITV to inform them that this is taking place. I am going to invite all MPs and MEPs in Northamptonshire to attend and show their support. Northampton MEP is very supportive.

This is a cross-forum thing because this is a cross-vaping thing and I'll be posting this message on other forums.

Any suggestions welcome - all Northamptonshire vapers welcome.

Dave.

Let me know if I've missed anything out :)

Any comments about the letter before I fire it off to the MEPs/MPs?

Dear Mrs. Willmott,

I would like to invite you to the Vape Meet taking place outside the BBC in Northampton on the 11th January at 11am.

Given the recent events in relation to the TPD, and in particular Clause 18's reference to vaping/ecigarettes, Northamptonshire vapers are going to get together to highlight the unwanted, unwarranted and unworkable nature of the proposals. This action will be happening on the same day across the whole of the United Kingdom.

Not only do we strongly disagree with things like an unenforceable maximum size of tank (2mm) and a non-drippable refilling container but also the implication that forums, websites, Youtube shows and media coverage of vaping would be banned.

We are getting in touch with all regional newspapers, television and radio channels in order to highlight this peaceful event.

With 7,000,000 vapers in Europe and 1,500,000 in the UK (and growing exponentially), we refuse to be dictated to by people we see as out of touch, misinformed and pursuing a course of action which will only benefit pharmacological and tobacco companies.

We demand the right to make our own choice in using a product far, far safer than tobacco.

Vaping does not contain tobacco, produces no smoke, cause no second-hand problems and has been welcomed by large number of the medical and research communities. The flavours do not attract children to vaping and there is no evidence that vaping causes any harm. Vaping doesn't have to be 100% safe - it just has to be safer than cigarettes...and has already proven itself through numbers to be far more successful than any other nicotine replacement product available. But vaping is not a medicine either, it is a choice, a product, that defies such categorisation.

We would welcome your presence and the opportunity to demonstrate the range of vaping devices available, how they are used and why they pose no problem to society.

I'd include references to studies to back up your claims, and the tank size says mm not ml. Other than that it all seems good...

Thanks and thanks.

My head is fuzzier than a bear's arse.

Also point out that it has been debated in the Lords where it seems to be the favoured option to ignore the EU proposal.
