What's new

OT: Does this sound familiar?

Regardless of the waffling style and the riptripperesque editing techniques, the bloke does actually make a valid point.
schlinky is quite correct in pointing out how the sugar 'issue' mirrors the situation we face. The financing of advisory/regulatory bodies by the same vested interests that they purport to police is nothing short of scandalous.

As For Brand, he might be a bit annoying but at least he doesn't perpetuate the 'everything is under control' and 'business as usual' bullshit that mainstream politicians try to sell us on, whilst at the same time feeding fear of terrorism through the media to make the public accept clampdowns on freedom.

I like "our russ" :)
He talks sense some times, bollocks a lot of the time....but he has a few things going for him....

1 - He's a cockney

2 - he comes from just up the road where i come from

3 - hes a west ham fan

4 - he has smashed katie perry's back doors in repeatedly ;)

The politicians are going to listen to whomever gives them the biggest back handers.
Over in the States, the FDA which is supposed to be looking after our yankee comrades health is continually hamstrung by the lobbyists for whatever is being debated as bad for them. Why else is big tobacco still able to sell it's products? Why else is the average american shopping basket full of more harmful chemicals than the street heroin I could buy off the wee ned round the corner? The EU isna any better.

You can have who ever you want as spokesman, be it beloved National Treasure or reborn activist trying to be popular again, it all comes down to money and who ever can top up some politico's pension fund.

Now I'm off to find something that can stop me being such a cynical chunt.

I really don't get the hate for Brand. Seems a nice enough bloke. Though I don't really watch the telly much so maybe I've missed something horrible that he's done. Anyone who questions the hegemony is alright with me.

Anyone remember Dave Nellist? He once shared an office with Tony Blair. That must have been interesting.

Nobody will listen...

...until its spelt out in their face.
I just subjected a mate of mine to the Sally Davies "butterscotch" interview on BBC iPlayer. When I pointed out her misleading comments he was absolutely appalled and could not understand how our "health experts" could miss out on the potential of ENDS to make our society smoke free. Keep on exposing their arguments as the mere scaremongering that they are. The truth will prevail. Russell Brand is a wanker.
