Right, working week 5am start coming up, so a novice query before I collapse into the sleep of the demmed, looking at DIY juice threads, albeit not uber-extensively, I see a lot about mixing, and flavours, but what about making one's own flavour concentrates from scratch? Would there be a great difficulty in going about it? Any tips, if a possibility for the home enthusiast without the Breaking Bad meth lab and chemistry degree in the background? I am here waving my ignorance around like the blades of a helicopter under the illusion that it is a an earth digger.
There is a great book (and so-so movie), called Perfume, by Patrick Süskind, about a weird fellow named Grenouille, who has the nose, and desire, to make the perfect scent, what a great thing to aspire to applying it to vapour tastes, skipping the parts where virgins are murdered to secure their essences, naturally.
Oh, and menthols, I have tried two menthols, both decent, no real menthol kick though, and when I say kick, I mean more of a jab, or a decent shove, I don't want to blow my head off, I do not want to numb myself completely to the terrors of everyday reality, like commuting to Newport, or HR departments, but I want to confront it with a fresh vitality, legs akimbo, and all that kind of thing. Any recommendations? Cheers.

Recon it could work. i mean there are food flavouring and colourings out there, and we were wondering if they could be used for vape juice as well, or if the vape flavours are a different type of flavouring.

Well there is your start point....Food flavouring is a dodgy area, first rule: never use an oil based one, only alc based. But even then some of them have additives that whilst its ok to ingest, you really don't want to inhale apparently

So what you are saying is, unless we are 100% certain as what vape flavours are made of, we can try experimenting in creating our own flavour. Only to make sure we don't kill ourselves lol

I had that movie burned into my subconscious - my friend used to play it repeatedly, usually with the volume up if vodka was involved - he`s dead now.

I`m aware of people creating their own tobacco flavours by steeping leaves etc, but my instinct would say that anything beyond the simplest, naturally occurring things like tobacco leaves would be too expensive and need expensive lab equipment ?

What I mean is, I wouldn`t like to attempt to make a Dragonfruit flavour from scratch...they`re never the same as the real thing anyway, always better and enhanced I find...but the flavour houses must know what chemicals they need to combine to create a specific flavour (or smell for that matter) once they`ve worked out for the first time what different molecules make up a specific item of food (or anything).

Menthol is easy enough, a trip to boots to pick up some menthol crystals (under a quid if I remember right) then you just take a pinch and add them to your pg/vg to dissolve. Go easy and build it up cos this stuff is very strong-wont just give you a good kick-it'll head butt you and then come back to kick you in the goolies if you aren't careful. As to making other flavours it all seems like hard work and a certain amount of laboratory experience would help :) it's easier, safer and cheaper just to buy vape friendly flavours (most of which are highly concentrated so a little goes a surprisingly long way. Check out the flavour review section to get an idea of the good ones and the ones to avoid :D

Aye, that would be the best way to go.
Though was a nice thought creating your own, be it not that i'm not a lab rat :cat:
