Preferring the Mini Protank 2 over the iClear 30

I've enjoyed my first week of vaping with the iClear 30 on my MVP v2, but something wasn't quite right for me.

I've now put my mini PT2 (with the same juice) and I think I understand what people mean when they say 'airy' now. The PT2 seems airier, and I like it. I also prefer the bottom coil on the PT2 - I found myself tipping the iC30 frequently to make sure the wick was well saturated. I do notice the slightly cooler vape from the bottom coil, but I don't mind this at all. I also prefer the drip-tip on the PT2 - it is hard to explain, but I think it is a combination of a slightly smaller diameter where it meets my lips, and the slightly convex shape (relatively) near the top.

The PT2 also has an ego thread which seems to aid air getting to the atomiser, whereas the iC30 has a 510 thread (I think I have these the right way round!) which is smaller and the beauty ring seemed to impede the iC30 on my MVP so I didn't use it: the PT2 thus looks better on my MVP because of this as well.

Thats the good thing about vaping, everyone is different!
I also like the protanks, but i also like the iclear30 that came with my mvp, the removable drip tip on the newer protanks is very welcome, i have a couple of ming drip tips that i prefer to use.
I have also just got a kanger T3S that takes the same bottom coil as the evod/protank, it is good and holds 3ml of juice.
variety is the spice of life ;)

I'm keen to try some different drip tips, especially as I've only had the metal ones so far on my two tanks, so will definitely check out the ming ones :)

I've just got a mini protank 2 as well,Must say I love it but only have the CE4-5's to compare it to.
It works much much better than any CE tank I've tried and looks great on an eGo too :)

true man I prefer the bottom coils and I prefer a looser draw so I like the PT2's there is a new bottom coil iclear out btw the iclear 30b bottom coiler im gonna get one next and an aspire davide people say they are even better than the protanks

I keep seeing lots of positive things about the davide, very tempted to pick one up and maybe grab the iclear bottom coil too - I can wrap them up and maybe sneak them under the xmas tree!

Well I was getting some dry hits with the Protank 2, I do have some pretty thick juice in there, and I found a suggestion to remove two 'flavour' wicks that sit onto of the top coil - after doing this I've all but stopped the dry hits, and the vanilla custard taste is coming through better (though each day that passes is another day off the cigs, so my taste buds are gradually improving too).

Regarding the iClear 30, I gave it a good clean in water, soaked it over night (the rubber cap over the coil is particularly stubborn for removing the smell of the previous juice), then left it to dry naturally for a day. I've put in a thinner juice, a cola flavour, and it's vaping better than when I first set it up! Is it typically a good thing to give new clearomisers a clean before their first use? All part of the learning curve though which is part of the fun :)

An update on my experience with the Protank 2, I think I've really got this device down now. The removal of the two small wicks that sat over the top coil stopped the dry hits, but I was getting some leaking down the shaft and onto the to of my battery.

I've now put a piece of 2mm silica wick over the top coil but cut it a little longer so it hangs out into the tank to aid saturation of this wick: this now seals the holes that lead to the atomiser chamber to prevent any leaking.

Also, I've flipped the plastic seal that pushes down on the wicks - this prevents the wicks from being overly compressed which was letting juice into the atomizer chamber, but still provides small pressure as it acts as a cup now where the weight of the juice in the tank pushes it neatly down onto the piece of 2mm silica wick.

No dry hits at all, no leaking at all, having fun :)

I love my protank mini. Next thing I'm going to experiment with is some different sexy drip tips.

Removing the 2 flavour wicks is must and now you're building your own you can tailor the wick thickness to fit just the way you like.. :yahoo:
