Preferring the Mini Protank 2 over the iClear 30

An update on my experience with the Protank 2, I think I've really got this device down now. The removal of the two small wicks that sat over the top coil stopped the dry hits, but I was getting some leaking down the shaft and onto the to of my battery.

I've now put a piece of 2mm silica wick over the top coil but cut it a little longer so it hangs out into the tank to aid saturation of this wick: this now seals the holes that lead to the atomiser chamber to prevent any leaking.

Also, I've flipped the plastic seal that pushes down on the wicks - this prevents the wicks from being overly compressed which was letting juice into the atomizer chamber, but still provides small pressure as it acts as a cup now where the weight of the juice in the tank pushes it neatly down onto the piece of 2mm silica wick.

No dry hits at all, no leaking at all, having fun :)

Just seen this post. DOH!

Try 2mm wick rebuild, there will be enough wick to loose the flavour wicking and not give you floods. The flavour wick only mutes flavour and vapour a bit but every little helps..

Damn, am I singing Tesco tags..

Why not try a small piece of cotton wooll instead and lay that on the top coil. Works great

thanks for the advice chaps, I'm definitely going to tray and build a coil for it soon (emphasis on try lol). I love this clearo, so if I can make my own coils then it's going to save me money that I can spend on some mechs in the future

cotton wool is a great idea, I understand that cotton is very popular in micro coils and such, I will do this in the future but thought I would follow the classical route in my education and start off with the silica wick to get familiar with it - but I'm keen to try cotton wool as it seems to be the future :)

I love my protank mini and the 3

I personally found the IC30 and 30s to be really bad. I really don't understand what people see in them. I didn't use it for long, as my scorpion blood destroyed the tank anyways!!! :)

I haven't tried scorpion blood, but it sounds like a tank killer! I haven't used the ic30 much recently, I've been addicted to my igo-s dripper :) But I plan to build a new coil for the ic30 tomorrow - I believe it's not the easiest to do, but will give it a shot. I've got the mini pro tank 2 down now - I recoil with a double 2mm silica wrap with .2 wire, no flavour wick at all - vaping really nice with no dry hits or leaks at all. Hopefully I can get the ic30 down too, I might try a single coil some how but will see how I go :)
