I've been using my Kanger ProTank 2 happily for a couple of months after removing one of the wicks as I was intially getting a burnt taste however depsite a clean and fresh juice the burnt taste is back. I've also noticed my juice getting really discoloured. Time for a new head or is there something else I can try?

cfherd You can re-coil a new head yourself or put a new one in if you have it...

Surprised you got as long out of one head to be honest :)

As the lady says, replace or recoil needed.
If your replacing, can I analyze the old one,to find out why it lasted so long.
I get 2 weeks max outta mine.

If the two months is correct then you have answered your own question. I am with anthonyb on this, a couple of weeks would be max for me also. How did you clean it before? You say the liquid changed colour this makes me think you are using a fairly clear type of liquid, perhaps a fruit one? It may also be the jhuice is quite acidic which is attacking the caramalised stuff which has adheared to the coil.

It depends a lot on the juice you're vaping. If it's a steeped tobacco juice then those have extra "stuff" in them that burns easily and will gunk a head in no time. If I put Hooch in the Kayfun I get maximum 2 tankfulls before I gotta rewick it.

Atomisers with a "chimney" or similar enclosed space, Kayfun, Taifun, Spheroid, Aspire will get the wicks hotter than a tank with more airflow around the coils like a Vivi Nova or a ProTank which will also speed up the gunking time.

If you use a juice that isn't too bad for creating gunk, clean the wick often and vape at low power settings you too can get several weeks out of 1 head :)

Average vaper will probably get about 2 weeks of good life out of a coil if they dry burn clean it every 2 or 3 tankfulls.

Chegs wanders away chuckling quietly as he got 2.5+ months from 1 (cheapest)clearomizer before burning it out completely trying to "speed dry" it after a "boil wash" by connecting it to a fresh battery(2x18650's)instead of its usual "robbed from old Ego" battery.I was only ever feeding it the exact same juice and would clean it every few days, but I realise this would be highly unusual as the other clearo I bought same time only lasted 3 days and the rest have averaged about 2 weeks.I now possess 2 rebuildable coil types which I expected to struggle with rebuilds, but 1st attempt was so easy that rebuilding the 2nd I was actually enjoying it so much that I redid it a 2nd time instead of trying to re-position the coils. :)

Granted, I flit between tanks, but I've been using one evod since july, 2 more evods and a protank since august, 3 more protank clones and, less often, 3 pro minis for a month or so and never had a coil go on me yet.

I've only rinsed & dry burned the heads once about a fortnight ago!

Even of the earlier CE4s only one packed up after 2 days, one cracked, one never got used and 4 are still going 6 months on (or would be if I wanted to use them).

My coils don't burn out - am I doing something wrong?:hmm:

I guess it also depends how much juice you vape. From another post I think you said you vape 1ml per day?. I do about 10ml per day so I go through coils once every week and a half.

Well I replaced the coil and the burnt taste is gone but at the moment I am not getting much from the 70/30 menthol juice. I think the first time I used my last coil it took a tank or so to 'bed in'.

To add further comment on how long it lasted, I haven't been using it constantly for 2 months - I switch between this is a Vision V2 but do tend to favour the Protank. I'd day I only use about 4/5 ml of juice per day so based on that I think a couple of months out of the coil is about right?
