rebuilding, cheaper AND better?

Nah, your not missing anything, your suspicions are quite correct!

Rebuilding is not only a better vape, but it is a shit ton cheaper.

I'd add an ohm meter to that list of yours. It's important to be able to check your resistance and check for shorts before firing your builds. Some basic knowledge of battery limitations and safety should be learned as well.

My only advice for a noob is to keep asking questions, read up on what other vapors are trying out and enjoy yourself!

So i've ordered some mesh, kanthal and silica wick so i can get started on rebuilding T3S. Could you use mesh in a T3S? Or a composite coil (silica wrapped in mesh?)

I was thinking of using the ohm checker on my VTR? I suspect this is a bad idea as by the time i check it could be too late. I'll probably be able to pick up a multimeter to do a better job.

Thanks for the tips guys. I thought buying replaceable coils was amazing cheap but looking at the number was really surprising. I wonder how long it will be before i start mixing :P. My guess is about 2 days after my first coil . .

I've just started building my own coils and instead of paying around £2 per atomiser it's now going to cost me 20p!
