Has anyone had any joy replacing the screen on a DNA 30? Mine broke and i've ordered a replacement screen/ribbon cable but i'm wondering how to actually get it on the board?

I've managed to desolder the old broken one but is there a specific technique to putting the new on on there other than "hope and pray"?

Cheers,

Easiest way is with a well tip and some flux on the joints. Apply flux to the joints and then just go over with the tip, the solder will draw to the flux.

I'll have a look for a well tip then, wish me luck lol

There are two small holes that go through the ribbon cable and the board that line it up, I used single core hook up wire through these.

To take the old one off just get a good blob of solder on your tip, put on the middle of the ribbon where it attaches to the board and move around until it melts all the solder on the other side, lift the iron and gently pull off the cable (it should come off easily, use more time or bigger blob of solder if it doesn't).

To fit put the locating wire up through the board, put the end of the ribbon over these. The most important thing is to put flux on the solder tracks on the board before pushing the ribbon right down. Now you should have the ribbon perfectly lined up and held in place by the pins/wire, just get a small blob of solder and run it over the top so it melts the solder below.
