Not particularly keen on the RY-4's i've tried so far, so i'm starting a mixing adventure to come up with my own sweet caramelly tobacco based vape.

In the ones i've tried, the tobacco is either too subtle (HangSen) or too bold (Inawera) and the Caramel and Vanilla notes seem to be pretty non-descript.

The tobacco concentrates i'll be experimenting with...

Capella Smooth Tobacco
FlavorArt Dark Vapure
Inawera Sweet Tobacco
Inawera Tobacco Smoke & Prunes
Inawera Tobacco Taboo
Inawera Desert Ship
Inawera RY-4
Inawera M.i.L.D Tobacco
Inawera Perique Black

I've included the Inawera RY-4 in there in the hopes that it can be tweaked satisfactorily.

I'll probably be using the Inawera tobaccos around 0.3% to start with as they're incredibly potent, and overpowering tobacco is nasty stuff in my opinion, i want to keep it subtle in the spirit of RY-4, but not too subtle :5:

Next onto the sugary sweet Caramel component... :stinker:

I'm a little short handed here, only really have 4 concentrates that fit the bill.

PA Caramel Candy (Werther's Original)
PA Butterscotch
Inawera Caramel
FlavorArt Caramel

Now, to Vanilla or not to Vanilla? All the RY-4 i've tried i've never really got any hint of vanilla, might be there but it's too subtle for me to pick out.

I May go with a bold Vanilla, or i may leave it out all together, not decided yet :)

For a start, i'm going to need to mix up all these caramel notes up on their own to see what percentage is best, i think Caramel will be the base flavour, with tobacco only offering a "hint" and i'll see how it goes from there, might take some weeks but hopefully i'll have the RY-Phwoar i'm looking for

I'll be watching your progress on this with interest.
A very wide range of tobacco flavours there ...

Capella RY4 @ approx 8%+ added to custard/dark chocolate, graham cracker,coconut/caramel/ has been my ADV's all this last week.Fraggle found an absolutely fantastic mix online the other day, called Blind Gambit and I enjoyed it so much I destroyed 10 ml in an afternoon.

Blind Gambit

Apple(used green apple) 8.5%
Graham Cracker 3.5%
RY4 5%
Whipped Cream 3%

Left to steep for a couple days, and then sampled(that instantly changed to "must vape it more & more & more" as it had my mouth watering)

Never really got around to messing with this the way i would have liked.

I've been dripping HangSen RY4 recently and thought i would change it up a bit, the plain caramel taste started to get a bit boring.

So i started off with my basic 10% of the HS concentrate and then pondered what else i could add to it.

I ended up tipping my box of concentrates on the floor and sifting through them, i quickly grabbed Inawera Coconut and FlavourArt Hazelnut.

I intended on mixing them separately (ry4+hazelnut, ry4+coconut) but got lazy and thought i'd try and blend the lot.

Now my 10ml bottles can hold 12ml, so i put 12ml in the POTV app and i think the percentages got messed up, it was asking for the same amount of coconut and hazelnut as it was if i were making 10ml, but i went along with it anyway.

I correctly worked out 10% RY4 at 1.2ml
It insisted 2% of Inawera coconut was 0.2ml
and 1% of FlavourArt hazelnut was 0.1ml

So mixing a 12ml sample the percentages actually worked out as:

RY4 - 10%
Coconut - 1.6666666666666666%
Hazelnut - 0.833333333333333%

Now if i mixed up a 10ml sample, the percentages would have been right, but the hazelnut and coconut would have been stronger and wouldn't really be the same as what i've ended up with. Mixing up a larger sample, maybe 30ml would make the above maths easier methinks :)

Right, so what does it taste like? Well it's predominantly Hazelnut, even at such a low percentage, the Coconut creeps in the background there and they seem to work well together, the sweet caramel of the RY4 works to round out the whole thing, it's very pleasant and moreish. I'm not really getting any hint of tobacco, which is majorly weak in RY4 to begin with, so i'd probably say this is more of a sweet/dessert flavour.

Steeping? No idea, i gave it about an hour in the ultrasonic with hot water and seems good from that, so might only need a week or so of ordinary steeping.

Recipe is posted up in the recipes section for future reference.

*EDIT* Oh, i mixed this at 50/50 PG/VG
