after having a memo said to me in handover I see the news has broken that the UK this winter will get the full power of the second wave 85 thousand dead etc doom gloom and such like

but look at this map of the cases

https://www.euronews.com/2020/08/27...d-19-second-wave-country-by-country-breakdown

this gives the cases by European countries

give or take a day or so the first reports in every country in Europe including islands and small countries is about the 8th of march is it me or isn't that a bit odd I'm not being a flat earth person here but every country had cases in or around the same time

liz said it's a second wave we are doooooommmmeddd but I'm not so sure from reading up a second wave is when the first wave has gone completely hence the expression 'second wave' but these increase in cases from reports are saying infection rates are up and deaths are down (really down) it's said to be too early to say if the virus has mutated to a weaker one or the person the lockdowns etc

from what i was reading the virus having mutated theory is a controversial one, and it’s more likely the result of increased testing and younger, healthier people catching it.

controversial because there is no evidence to support it and the idea spreading around will make people think there’s less need to be cautious.

I agree with you completely the number of people I see with either no mask no precautions is amazing the expression COVID fatigue I've heard in conversation a lot, people are so sick of it the "fuck it" attitude comes out this I've seen time and again "I'm afraid the treatment wasn't successful"...."fuck it I will be alright"

aye, it’s a worry. i think it’s a bit infectious as well, the more people acting as though everything is just normal, we can tend to forget to be cautious ourselves, if you get me.

That was really informative to watch, Dr John has a really good way with words, first time I've seen him so thanks for sharing.

I did see a documentary on TV, and a newspaper article this week that said there was evidence from several research groups around the world that the virus has mutated, it was described as something like the original virus was D614, and the new one is G614.
The difference is that the new variant is more infectious (which is the aim of a virus to survive) but is much less damaging to the human body.
This may explain why infections seem to be rising, but deaths are falling.

My opinion is it's all the same wave, the mass gatherings etc have caused the increase in cases but most of those who attended large gatherings where mostly under 40's. Being young and healthy they have not suffered like the older folk or those with medical conditions.
I have a feeling there is more to it than is let on. Maybe this lockdown has been about trying to change society from a largely anti social mob to a bunch who help each other out and have respect for others ie reintroducing life before the millenium.
