'Sexual' VIP E-Cigarette Advert Banned Before 11pm By Advertising Standards Authority

Two television adverts for an electronic cigarette brand have been banned before 11pm following 1,156 complaints that they were overly sexual and exploited women.
The ads for VIP e-cigarettes, which carried a post-9pm restriction and also appeared on the advertiser's YouTube channel, drew complaints that dialogue between a man and woman contained references to oral sex.
A number of complainants said they understood an accompanying female voice-over saying "If you're gonna vape, vape with VIP" was "wordplay on the term rape".
438 Marketing Ltd, responding on behalf of Must Have Ltd trading as VIP Electronic Cigarettes, said it did not believe the ads were overly sexual.

Innuendo has been a comedians source of material ever since we learnt to communicate.Muppets.
 
The reference to 'vape' being a bit like 'rape' is absolutely ridiculous, but I do agree that that VIP ad is over sexualised. I really don't think those kinds of ads do us any favours. This isn't Benny Hill, it's a serious tool that gets people off cigarettes and saves lives. Turning it into something to titter about shifts the focus.

Don't get me wrong, I love an innuendo as much as the next person but then again I don't spend millions on tv ads to make my double entendres.
 
Video has been removed now but I have to agree, from what we have read, that it was a bit "cheeky" and a bit too much. We are trying to get people behind vapers and this would only piss of those sort of un-educated folk.

On the other hand, I'd have got mine out and put it her mouth and made her see how gooood it tates :D
