'Sexual' VIP E-Cigarette Advert Banned Before 11pm By Advertising Standards Authority

So it's not OK to use innuendo when trying to save lives through preventing cancer...

But it's OK to use innuendo when trying to save lives through preventing cancer?

It's not really an innuendo though is it? This is trying to illustrate a fact.

Yes, because they're not trying to take shampoo away from us.

Because you're not worth it ! (That's a joke & i hope you get it because otherwise it's an insult ) :whipping2:<-- & that is another sexual innuendo.

It's depicting a cock.

The language used in the commercial is only understandable by those who understand oral sex.

My kids watch Family Guy and South Park, a load of the stuff in there just flies over their heads, I'm the one laughing.

But then I don't buy into censorship in any form, it's just someone making a value judgement on my behalf - I'm the one to make those calls. If I find it offensive I don't buy the product, which is every product that sets a low bar for intelligence.

What about these two then?

I just don't get why people are so hung up on sex they need to go all Mary Whitehouse and complain to television companies.

I'm not hung up about sex in any way whatsoever, my point is that surely vaping and the use of electronic cigarettes is at a really delicate time and that Frankie Howerd oo-er missus approach doesn't do us any favours at all. Why didn't they actually say what it was? Why didn't they point out that it's an alternative to smoking tobacco cigarettes? Why didn't they give some facts about the thousands of chemicals in tobacco that you DON'T get in e-cigarettes?

By going down the giggling schoolboy route it's hardly surprising advocates of vaping aren't being taken seriously.

Not saying you are, it isn't a personal dig, honest :)

Sex has been used in advertising since advertising hit TV. The message was aimed at a segment of a market who would respond to it - in this case 18-25yr olds whose main occupation is trying to get laid or pissed or both.

Much like my aims in life only without the fatalist outlook :D

I agree with you as it goes. This sort of media does feed the wolves at a sensitive time. Interesting that the product that they want to promote will be bashed by the public because they couldn't just advertize it in context.
