Shorty RDAs...Yes or No?

So I've been a little sucked in by the nice looking little RDAs promising great flavour and good clouds.

I'm tempted to give one a go but wanted to see if anyone had opinions on them? Are they worth the investment? I know generally a reduced chamber = better flavour. Is the flavour on a shorty superior to a standard atty?

I'm liking the Derringer and the Mako Shorty, as both seem to be of good quality and are reasonably priced. Anyone have experience with these?

Any honest opinions would be appreciated,

Adam.

A well made rda with a simple & solid configuration should be good at what it's designed to do regardless of whether it's a shorty, a pretty standard or a higher than normal bell cap, which still doesn't make for a large atty anyway.
That shorty trending which is going on has its appeal, the form factor & looks seem to over ride the appeal normally judged by other design features. The derringer is basically just a standard tri post rda, nothing that hadn't been done before except they decided to shorten the top cap. It's blatantly a cloud chucking rda with little consideration for anything else. If it's that which you want then it's said to be very good at it & flavour, if it's in your juice you'll taste it.
Flavour ? A decent rda should give good flavour, that's always been one of the main advantages of a dripper, if there isn't flavour available than your liquid contains none or the dripper has failed miserably.
Clouds ? Take any standard mtl rda, drill out the air hole & there you have it but at the expense of some flavour. It's no surprize that some are said to be made for one or the other.

I've had drippers with big high top caps that produce as much flavour as you can get (The APO was one such & so was the viggo) & i've had drippers with reduced chambers that are less flavourful, still good but not more flavourful.
It's a myth, as a generalisation, that a reduced chamber alone means more flavour. As far as i can tell what makes a really good dripper that you would keep reaching for day after day is a combination of factors in its design & no two are exactly the same, not all work as well & some are dressed up to dazzle with over complicated & annoying features which are not necessary.

If i were a cloud chucker i would be all over the derringer & a few others iv'e seen out there.
