We were in Corfu last year. Hired a motorbike and toured up and down the place. There are some nice places. It’s full of swallows and fireflies.

We passed through it on the bike but I don’t think we stopped there. Spent more time on the west coast when we weren’t in the old town.

If you can ride a motorbike I’d definitely recommend hiring one. Even a car. It’s a fairly small island and there are some really beautiful out the way spots that are hard to access without your own transport. You can see most of it in a week.

There’s an abandoned village that’s now a sort of quietish tourist spot quite near Kassiopi, with a nice track leading up to it through the hills. Had some really good food there with a great view.

I was debating whether to hire a car.. there for a week then Old Town for a few days.
Was going to Airport transfer then taxi a couple of inland restaurants/gentle walks or get a boat from the port around the coast, sort of thing.

The airport is right at the old town, walkable, in fact. Potentially car hire might be cheaper than from the airport.

I suppose it depends on whether you fancy a bit of driving and finding remote spots or just taking it easy for a week on the beach. There will be node beaches where you’re going, potentially could be busy at this time of year going. I’m a bit of a weirdo that prefers remote, empty beaches.

I really liked it though, some of it’s really spoiled by tourism but there are some beautiful spots as well.

These are all photos from Corfu when we were there last June. The landscape is beautiful, it’s a very green island. But small enough that getting up into the hills gives you beautiful views in all directions.

I also found interesting that from the old town, you can look out at a small island. The mainland past that island is actually the border between Greece and Albania, so if you look northwards it’s Albania.
