shes is a friend of mine we both worked in the quarter in Birmingham we both went to the jewellery college I specialised in mounting setting and bronze work i.e chasing etc she did hand engraving it was something I did as part of the training but I lost the skill a long time ago

each cut is done by hand plus the shading in the background is chased in, it depends on the engraver it's very "precise"

I said to her go with it do what you want she hates that as she needs an image on paper or pattern to duplicate but I persuaded her to go with her own image

hand engraving is the same as any craft its a dying trade, not many people do it its 7 years to become good 10 years to master and be part of the guild of the master craftsman

I liked my time as a jeweller setting a 50k ring you become oblivious to the cost its a ring but I loved platinum the polish on it glows for a little while before it dulls down

the quarter is very family 30 years ago but many friends have passed away now so its all change these days fast lost wax casting with cheap stones making a ring from bar and setting the basket is still there but you can go online buy a load of blanks and say I made all of this when in fact you have never knocked up a ring to size
