So I finished my very first mod today. A raptor 120w, wired exactly like the YouTube video by advicevice that another member posted somewhere on here. Granted I did make a minor change to it, instead of a voltmeter I decided to add a modmaker modmeter. Everything looked fine, connections seemed good and it fired up first time. Unfortunately it seems I have went wrong somewhere along the build, there seemed to be a small amount of voltage running through constantly and I have no idea why. Thought it might have been the modmeter so I took that out but no luck and now it doesn't fire at all. Back to the drawing board for round 2 I think.

There are wiring diagrams on modmaker.co.uk have a look, it might be a simple fix

Had a look earlier, the wiring diagram on modmaker doesn't include the mosfet and fuses and is wired slightly different. Going to order a few more parts and try again, hopefully with better results.

Best of luck in getting it sorted putt_putt is a bit like computer programming to those of us who hate it... starting all over again is generally the best option if you want to find where it went wrong

If you can post up a quick sketch of your circuit, i will take a look. Did you wire the resistor in the right place. The raptor is robust, I can tell you. I gave it a lot of abuse while building it and still worked much to my suprise.

Where is the unwanted voltage? thru the atty? The raptor does draw a small current unless you use one of mamu's fancy circuits. So remove your batts of not using for a long time.

Like jugg1es says check out the stealthvape circuit.

Sorry no sketch, I basically followed the video making sure everything was done the same way. The resistor was wired from pin 5 to the outer ground on the edge of the board.

Yeah the voltage was through the atty, it wasn't firing but it was getting hotter

I probably should have gone for something a bit simpler as my first build lol

UMM resistor seems OK. I meant modmaker circuit not stealthvape. Compare to make sure you've wired it up right

Sorry if I am not too technical with the detail, this is my first rodeo lol. I compared most of it with the diagram and it is all good. I have taken it all apart now so will try again using the modmaker diagram.

Best way to learn is from my mistakes, not going to give up on this after only one go.

Thanks for the help.

Yup. Bin that mosfet, just keep it to the bare bones. Add 2 fuses in parallel to the positive lead from the battery to keep it safe.

Colour the positive ends of your batteries RED so you dont put them in the wrong way around or you'll blow the raptor if not using the mosfet protection.

will give it a go. What about a voltmeter? Is it necessary? If so, which way would I wire it up?
