Sinus pressure?

It's probably a silly question but has anyone experienced this whilst vaping? It started about a week ago and I have been using my e-cig for about 2 weeks now. I notice it mainly when I am using a menthol flavour. Of course it could be just a sinus infection although I have no blocked nose or anything. I can breathe perfectly normally, but get this pressure when I vape. i wonder if its because the juice I use is only pg and could it be drying out the sinuses? I heard it causes a dry mouth, which it sometimes does, but that's getting better now. It was really drying me out at first and I had to have glass of water ready, but now not so much. I don't notice it so much with the other flavours I have. The are all 18mg nicotine.

Anyway, just wondering. I'll probably get something from boots tomorrow just in case. Thanks folks.

Hi Jacque105, I've noticed the odd blocked sinus a couple of times and wondered if it was down to vaping, but for me it wasn't: one was a lurgy (which came and went within a day, unlike when I was smoking) and for the last week I've been reacting to some lilies in a bouquet of flowers the OH got me for our anniversary (but they just smell so lovely, I'm not getting rid of them or cutting off the stamens :D)

However, you say yours is happening while you're vaping, so it may well be a reaction to the high PG content of the juice you're using. If you can find a version with a lower PG content then try that (anything from 70/30 to 50/50 PG/VG, or you could make your own juices up to your preferred PG/VG base - there's lots of helpful info in the mixology section of the site. Some juice vendors offer custom PG/VG ratios (and some will make them for you if you ask nicely :) )

I wouldn't advise using an all VG juice unless you are using a dripper or a genesis type tank - something for you to move onto once you've tried out and are comfortable with how the basic clearomisers (tanks) you'll be using at present work.

As for dry mouth or the possibility of your juice drying your sinuses, yes this can also happen :) Do keep really well hydrated at all times, even more than you are doing now; if you feel thirsty then you are already dehydrated! PG is what is called Hydrophilic - and will draw water out of the mucous membranes in your mouth, nose, sinus and throat. You will also need to pile on the moisturiser as it will dry your skin and lips out too.

Thanks lilyred. nose so bad today, been trying a 70/20 juice out today, as it arrived in the post. You may well be right as although I used to vape about a year ago, (smoked inbetween as well), I always used mixed juices which I got online. The juice I have been using comes with the nicolites, which I started off on and then I bought some from a local vendor( who funny enough although sells them didn't know anything about pg/vg's), and they were all 100% pg as well. I will only order the mixed ones now and see what happens. I am not keen on mixing my own juice, as I worry about getting spillages etc, and all that palaver of ml etc. My skin has improved loads since I packed in the tobacco though, really soft now, but maybe it's also due to drinking more water ! lol

Thanks

I've had a quick look to find out what ingredients are in Nicolites (if this is the brand you are using) as many of the NRTs (Nicotine reduction therapies) on the market contain quite a lot of ingredients that aren't in normal e-liquid - and that most vapers wouldn't want in their liquid if I'm honest :) Are you using a nicolite or similar 'cig-alike' type e-cig, or a battery and clearomisers/cartomiser type?

It is perfectly possible to refill the cartomisers that come with cig-alikes with e-liquid - why not try some of the suppliers on the POTV marketplace (or have a look at the discount code section for even more suppliers and discounts too!) - or make the switch to a battery & Clearomisers if you haven't already? :)

The evod starter kit from Myepack http://myepack.co.uk/kits/evod-starter-kit-ss.html is a good one to try and many of the members moved onto these from cig-alikes as they're easy to use and clean, plus there are two batteries so you can have one charging and one in use - the kit detailed is in silver, but they come in a whole load of colours - it's recommended not to buy from ebay as you may save money to start with, but actually end up with a poor quality copy.

Either way, keep it up, you're doing so well and discovering all the benefits of giving up the stinkies :2thumbsup: If you do still lapse and have the odd tobacco ciggy then don't count them, but all the cigarettes you haven't smoked :)
