I shall be ordering a Cleito with rebuildable deck and the dumpy tank soon. Amazon Prime is a wonderful thing :)

I'll also need to order some Clapton wire to make the coils with. What size wire will I need, what size coils and how many turns to achieve a dual coil setup at 0.5 ohms? Don't really want to go below that.

Also, on the off chance I find that life isn't too short, what type, size internal/external wire would I need to wind my own Clapton wire to achieve the same result?

As you can tell, I am a complete noob to sub ohming so thanks in advance.

I would suggest what someone suggested to me and point you to steam engine (Google it) it will tell you how many wraps to the wire size. Please read about battery safety and ohms law. I don't know the deck of the cleito but take it into account when planning.

Thank you. I've been researching fancy coils and I don't think I'll bother with anything fancy. I do use Steam engine, buggered if I know how to use it but I got the coil bit sussed. Wound a twin coil setup today with standard single strand 0.4mm kanthal A1 at 0.5ohms and it's plenty enough to block the tele out and as long as it keep me off fags I'll keep it simple. Thanks again.

I started with a basic coil then went to Claptons etc as most do. basics is:
what gauge,
what your wrapping it around
what ohms your looking for.
eg for a dual coil wanting 0.5 ohms using 0.4mm kanthal wire (similar to 26 gauge American) wrapped 6 times round a 3mm post then repeat again for the second coil should give you 0.5 you should then have 2 coils with 6wraps either side of each other. jobs done I use Vape tool on android which is a bit easier than steam engine. I still use basic 1 wire coils today. Get a coil master kit along the road will help massively. Then all you need to learn is the wicking. Good luck[emoji106]

PS would love to see your first go here mine way back in 2015

Coil calculator for Clapton coils (Google) it will come up.
That's what I use, if your using one coil then straight forward.
If duel coils are needed I work out the resistance of 1 coil then do maths to work out what it would be. Let me know if you want formula to work out the duel value and will send u it.
I used 26/30 awg Clapton last build around a 3ml bit, 4 wraps = 0.33 ohms but this is in duel. Single will be easier to work out.
You got wire already?

Am I correct in thinking that you disregard the outer winding of a Clapton and just use the size of the inner wire to calculate the resistance?

I'm getting the impression you do. If so then it's a doddle.

Mostly.
The wrap does add a wee bit, but as a generalisation, aye, just use the core wire.

Might I advise you buy some pre made coils to kick off with, save you a bit of hassle initially. The delightful @cloudcuckoo can make you some peachy keen kit.
Once you get the hang of them from there, then look into getting lesser quality kit fae amazon that you have tae wrap yourself.
