Hi everyone.
just thought that I would say a few words about my new Smok xpro m50 that I purchased from Angelfiremods for the cost of £47.99 delivered.
As the name of the device denotes, the xpro m50 is a vw device that can go up to 50 watts. There is also the option to turn on a mechanical mod mode that fires up to the voltage of your battery but I dont use this mode.
The device is really nice to look at and to hold with a nice amount of weight behind it. It is finished in an aluminium and zinc alloy, so it feels like it could take a drop or two.
The size of the device is 22x38x85mm and its weight is 115g without the battery. It fits comfortably in my hands and it has well placed buttons down one side.
It comes in a nice little box which includes the device plus micro charging cable, four extra hex nuts for the battery cover,an ego adapter, manual, and most importantly a spare silicon fire button ( see below why this was important for me).
The device does not come with a battery installed so you will need to add this to the cost. It takes an 18650 battery and I am using a samsung inr 18650-25r in mine.
The display shows the battery level, atomizer resistance, and the wattage that you have set. It does also show you the voltage but this only displays a figure when it is fired.
I wont drone on any more about the specs of the device as it is very much like most vw box mods on the market today, but I will give you my thoughts on its day to day use and I will also tell you about two very important faults I had with mine.
I am running mine with a black eleaf lemo drop atty with a 1.5 ohm coil firing at 15 watts. The vape is very good and smooth and I am very happy with that side of things.
**HOWEVER** I have had the two faults on mine which detracts from my overall feelings for this mod.
Fault 1: upon removing the bottom plate to insert my battery, I found that I could not insert it fully as a wire attached to the circuit board was protruding so far out it was blocking the positive contact.I had to insert a long plastic rod to gently push this wire to one side(being careful not to scrape the board). This wasnt as easy as it sounds due to the wire being short and thick and not having much spare room to reposition it. I did move it though and then I was able to insert my samsung battery. The fit is very tight and I am thankful that the device has a usb charging port, as it takes a hell of a lot of pulling to remove the battery if one so wishes.
Fault 2: The second fault I have encountered is potentially more serious and is about the fire button. I had been using the device for about four hours quite happily, until the fire button seemed to stick and it was continually firing my atty. I dont know whether the device would automatically shut off but i just removed my atty sharpish just in case. This happened on and off for the next few hours so it was then that i decided to change the plastic fire button with the spare silicone one provided. The removal of the original button involved me trying to pry it out using a tiny flat head screwdriver, all the time trying not to scrape or damage the appearance of my shiny new mod. I did manage this eventually and have since fitted the spare silicone button( just pushes in). I am happy to say that during the next days use, my mod has not continued to fire after i let go of the button and all seems well. It does beg the question however, why the silicone button is not fitted as standard.
My overall thoughts for this mod is quite mixed. I do like the looks and feel of the device and it is now performing very well. I never really use anything above 25 watts so I cant comment on what it is like flat out, but it suits my needs very well.
On the downside is the fact that it never performed straight out of the box due to the two reasons listed above. I hope that I received a one off bad one and that other people have a hassle free user experience.
I have attached a few pictures of the xpro m50 alongside an itaste mvp and an eleaf istick so you can judge its size and looks. Pictures taken on my phone so apologies for the lack of quality.
Thanks for reading
