Sooooo
Stopped smoking 14 years ago and was quite a heavy smoker. Fast forward to a month or so a go and some things have happened which have meant I found myself in a shop about to buy cigarettes when a lovely young guy sold me a disposable vape. So now I have about 30 of these things in all sorts of flavours ( I’m a bit all or nothing ) my friend tells me I’m wasting shocking amounts of money and should just get a “vape mod pod”. So I hunt down a Sunday trader and off I go . I was advised to buy the Arc mini and three 6mg nicotine juices . I did explain I have no idea what I’m doing or what watts and Ohms are etc and I was assured this would be just the same as the disposables . So I have loaded it up , waited 20 mins for the coil ( I think that’s what I was waiting for) and to say I’m a bit deflated is an understatement . The experience is nothing like the disposable and I’ve no idea what the watt thing should be set on . I’ve spent a couple of hours reading forums and looking on websites and I’m still bloody clueless . His parting words were “I have a 70 yr old using one of these they are so easy”… and yet here I am ! please tell me all is not lost and I can get what I need from what I have by maybe buying something to add to or that I have the wrong vape juice etc ! Thanks in advance for any helpful comments :)

Just turn it up until it seems to be giving the vape you want.

It goes to 5.5 and I’m on 4.3 I was thinking that’s too high ?! I also read that the bars have Nic salts in them, can I buy and out those in this arc ?

Innokin Adept kit will likely be a wise setup for an ex-smoker returning to a nicotine habit

now you got the Arc mini which is the eleaf mini mod clone thingy...
which is rated up to 20w

not sure if it is adjusted in Watts or volts still
I had a clone one which if mem serves me it was adjusted by voltage & was only about 10w
(there's a lot of variations/clones out there)

nic wise, if you have hit a hard patch you "might" need maybe 9mg, but you seem to doing ok
with old setup maybe so juice/nic level you're probably OK as you are

the mod will just about take a 20mm wide tank with a smidge overhang
*** actually if my mem served me correct a T20 tank had a whisker overhang at front
so a 22mm will have more overhang - but Zlide option is still there if push comes to shove ***

what coil ya using & what is the mod saying on the little lcd at back ???

gis some info or some pics please & welcome to POTV btw

It came with two bits , one fitted which I left on and another in the box , I honestly am so clueless I have no idea what I’m doing and have gone back to the elf bar which I really want to stop using !

The 10w was voltage only, like I had

The 20w has both voltage and/or wattage mode
you are in voltage mode, think 3 clicks toggles the various modes,
then select wattage perhaps ????

if using a 1.5 Ohm coil then somewhere around 10w give or take 1w will do ya maybe

most of us use wattage than voltage modes
(generally speaking that is)

Thanks I’d not realised there was two modes ‍♀️ Maybe it’s the choice of liquid , not sure .

naaahhhh - a slight possibility, some juices behave differently in some tanks
or rather the other way round, some tanks/coils produce better/worse or slightly different flavour

but generally speaking you are trying to chuck it together and get the power correct for the coil/juice/tastebuds

Too little power and you get a very weak flavour, too much & it burns the coil/juice up quickly
So it is a case of finding the sweet spot for coil-mod-juice that's all to get an acceptable vape from it

you likely had it a bit too low - some e-sticks just chuck the power through the coil with no adjustment
sure you get good flavour, on a likely tight draw but you'll be lucky to see coils last more than a week if you are caning it

variable mods allow you to fine tune the power being pushed through the coil to get find the perfect spot where the flavour is

If it is too high the coil will really sizzle a lot, even to point of vapour almost burning up on ya lips/mouthpiece
power too low - flavour weakens quite a bit - had it the other day...
thought the coil was needing to be replaced when I returned home...
turns out the power had dropped from usual 14w on a 1.08 ohm coil to 11w = weak flavour
bumped it up 14w again - ahh that's better, can leave the coil as is for a little while longer - still good

all power settings are only a general guide, you can't ultra fine tune it as it goes in 0.5w watt increments
rather than 0.1w increments - but usually 0.5w is OK, you should feel the difference in 9w, 10w, 11w
so you got a bit of adjustment

if you don't get nothing by say 12w then you likely have a lower resistance coil in there of say 1.0 Ohm
12w should be good for a 1.25 Ohm coil
(the lower the Ohms the more Watts required, only when you get below 1.0 Ohm or sub Ohm do ya need more oomph)
