ok - not entirely scientific due to inflation prices but....

I've just run a 'how much have you saved' .. on the many of the websites that show how much money you save since you quit.

I put in the roughish date that I started smoking with an averaged cost.

:eeek:

Damn, I coulda bought a brand new Mercedes C63 AMG and had change for a long holiday on some small Island somewhere...

Quite scary to think I've got zilch to show for it.

I dread to think how much I wouldn't have spent on tobacco products over the last 37 years.
Did you take into account, lighters, matches, papers, tips, etc. etc. ? Or do you still need to add them to your costs.

If I'd never started smoking, I can confidently guess that I'd have saved bugger all. In the same way that in the 18 months since I stopped, I have managed to save bugger all, I can assume that had I have never smoked I'd have found some other silly shit to spunk it on. Maybe cake? Or Remote control werewolves? All I know is that I'd still be as skint, just maybe a bit healthier.

Don't sweat it. If you hadn't spent it on smoking, you would most likely have spent it on something else. As the great Viv Stanshall once said (although he may have been quoting someone else):

"If I had all the money I'd spent on drink... I'd spend it on drink"

I've gotta agree with Lord Grim, I wouldn't have saved a penny. I'd simply frittered the money away on crap anyway.
