Whats the crack with the Luxotic? It has a chip but its not regulated right? What protection does it offer?

It's a bit like the Pico Squeeze, but claims to max out at 100w. 5 clicks to turn on and off. Polarity protection. Low resistance and voltage protection. Good bit of kit.
