Rob @stealthvape sent me this along with my buddah pack form the secret santa prize.......and i thought i would run it in place of Robs 'A1 Kanthal and see if i could tell the difference....

so...for your £4.99 you get 75 meters, thats 246 feet of wire!

heres what Rob has to say about it over at www.stealthvape.co.uk

We're pleased to offer a cheaper alternative to the popular kanthal A1 wire that we're all familiar with. This wire is another FeCrAl alloy with some small differences in makeup, specifically trace metals listed below.

Composition %

C Si Mn Cr Al Fe
Kanthal A1 0.08 0.7 0.4 23.5 5.8 Balance
Standard Issue 25 5 Balance
Standard issue resistance wire can be substituted for kanthal a1 wire due to its resistivity being almost identical.

Wire Electrical resistivity at 20°C Ω mm2/m Ohms/m
Kanthal A1 0.40mm / 26g 1.45 11.74
Kanthal A1 0.50mm / 26g 1.45 7.5
Standard Issue 0.40mm / 26g 1.44 11.5
Standard Issue 0.50mm / 24g 1.44 7.4
Because the resistivity of Kanthal A1 and Standard Issue resistance wire are so similar you can use your favourite coil calculator such as The Steam Engine by Lars Simonsen and just choose Kanthal A1.

We've found this wire is slightly softer than Kanthal A1 making it easier to handle but still more than strong enough to hold it's shape when pre-forming coils.

75m, that's 246ft in old money for the rock bottom price of £4.99 or £4.16 if you're outside of the EU (or qualify for zero VAT). We're fairly certain that makes this the cheapest Kanthal A1-type wire available on the vaping market - certainly the cheapest in the UK.

So far, ive used it in my Velocity, lush and sapor....and im finding it difficult to find any difference between the normal A1 and this "kanthal-a-like"

It performs exactly (in as far as i can tell) the same as the normal kanthal....

Its slightly easier to wrap the coil and shape it, which is a bonus, and after 6 days, about 20 re-wicks and 4 dry burns and a quick brush, there as good as new....

I get an extra 0.01ohm (0.21 rather the 0.20) but apart from that.....its exactly the same...well to me anyway....

Thanks for the timely review, I'm hopefully going over tomorrow (I'm local), will grab the 0.50mm which I assume is 24awg.

Just got round to buying some of this. Bought some 26g. Been using it in my Origens, on mesh, and in an Aromamizer.

I prefer it to A1 - not sure why yet. It seems thicker, but I don't think it is. It's slighty less springy, more malleable, but feels stronger once the coil has been heated.

It seems to ramp up, slightly quicker, yet the difference in resistance is negligible... Strange.

I'll be buying more, but of course, I won't for ages 'cos it's £5 for 75m...
