SX mini M class - worth getting fixed?

Hi peeps - my genuine M class has developed a fault. Not sure but don't think it's juice ingress and it's never been dropped either.

I noticed about a month ago that it stopped charging via the usb port but just decided to live with it as it was no biggy. However, a few days ago it stopped firing. The screen still shows joules increasing etc but there's no power reaching the 510.

I have cleaned everything and even had the cover off to take a look but there's nothing mechanically wrong. I also gave it a wash off inside with IPA whilst in there. It fired for about 5 minutes but then reverted to not firing again.

Seems a shame to dispense with it if it can be fixed, so if anyone has any suggestions or a rough estimate of what could be wrong and a repair cost it would be appreciated......

I'll just add that I haven't ever used the temp control functions, just in power mode between 12 and 18W.

I would definitely say it's worth it to get it fixed. I think it's a great chip. Only suggestion I can make though is maybe try updating the software. It's possible it could be a software issue and an update could fix it.

Oh and my USB port packed up charging after a few weeks also.

May be worth a try I guess. As for the usb you would have thought on a supposed Rolls Royce mod........

Sounds like the USB port has broken - if you're handy with a soldering iron you could try reflowing the joints, and the switch is most likely shot, again a little handiness with a soldering iron could sort that for a couple of quid, if you're not sure though then you could buy a new board - but thats probably £70 or so...

Theres a chance somebody on the SX brotherhood on FB might be able to help you.. They know pretty much every fault and cure... If you need a link let me know

Working again and interestingly now charging by usb - thanks for the advice, just fingers crossed it holds :-S

Agreed. Glad it's working again for you. Hopefully sorted.

I thought Yihi advised no charging via usb,upgrade only.
