So I've been dabbling in mixing my own and so far have had mixed results.

My first batch was good, but its nic level was far too high for my new kit so I've had to lose that. First batch for my new kit was rank, something just didn't work there. Batch in the cupboard steeping now which could use a few more days but the one I've chosen to crack a little early is already nice.

Like any mixer I want to avoid wastage where possible but also want to experiment a little, so I'm applying my beer brewing logic and want to do some low volume test mixes.

I'm mixing in 10ml plastic bottles, what's the smallest amount I can feasibly mix or is mixing one of those things that doesn't scale properly making this a waste of time?

Mix 5ml testers.

For testing flavour concentrates I measured how many drops per ml of the flavours, made up a bottle of unflavoured base (just use the calculator & leave the flavour % out), then popped 1ml of base in bottles & added the % of flavour by the drop - so my FF concentrates were 50 drops per ml, so 5 drops = 10% per ml
Other flavourings have come in at only 17 drops per ml - though of course harder to be precise at small quantities, it's around 3 drops = 20% flavour
I don't tend to mix at such tiny quantities when blending, but works fine with 5ml amounts

Have you thought about blending rather than mixing as an experimental method.
Mix single flavours in small batches then blend small quantities from these bottles in proportions you think may be interesting.
If the blends live up to expectations move on to perfect the mix.
My method for minimizing waste is to move slowly from a vapeable single flavour then that with a little something then either more of that something or another something.
It has taken me six months to get from single flavour mixes to 5 or six flavour mixes but I have not yet had to flush any.
Some people drown the flavour of poor experiments with menthol.
Good luck

I'm still in the single flavour stage. I don't know what happened with those two bottles I mixed last month, I didn't do anything different to any other ones they just came out with a really awful chemical taste. I've chalked up as maybe bad concentrate as they're a different brand to the ones that have worked well.

I'll work towards blending but want to get the singles working every time first.

My kanger holds 5ml so I guess 5ml tests make sense, try them on the RDA first then if they pass put the rest in the tank and I'm set for a couple days.

someone on here told me to keep a note of all the mix you make so if you find some you like when you make another batch you can follow what you have noted down .

When I get on with experimenting and forming recipes I will do, but for the time being I'm keeping it pretty simple and its not really needed, seems rather pointless to keep notes on 80/20 with 10% flavour.
