For Christ's sake - just stop it mod makers.

Enough is enough. The Akuma is a wonderful mod...this is like taking <insert sexy person of choice> and sticking them in a sealed black box.

It's wrong.

It's wroooooooooooong.

Is there any other reason for the coating other than aesthetics? Practical I mean, like maybe to protect the metal (the device in your pic looks like it's maybe copper.. would a coating help protect against dents or anything?)

Either way I think it looks quite nice.

But I think textured veg protein is nice too.

I'm easily pleased I guess. ;)

I think alot of mod makers are struggling to come up with new original designs without adding stupid amounts of machining time and I guess the easiest way is to add colour. Although technically Black isn't a colour.

Prefer mine, the engraving is now darker than the background and sets off nicely

Not my cup of tea either. I say as I'm currently stalking a black copper stingray in some classifieds and contemplating how I can get it past Mrs Dino.

Black is all fine and well, I just reckon it's like Trungo said, I think there are too many manufacturers in the Far East trying to cash in on the success of a mod by lobbing a black coat on it...it just displays a paucity of design.

I wouldn't mind if it incorporated a new design engraving so much but given the poor quality of the black coatings they peel or fade. My Black Hawk is rapidly becoming a Gray Hawk.

The Copper Black, the black Heimdall, the Black Hawk...it's a Goth's playground - everything is turning black.

Depends which scientist you ask.. A physicist will tell you it isn't and will prove it, using evidence based on light. A chemist will scoff at the physicist and mumble about colour as pigment or molecular colouring agents.. A biologist wont involve themselves in the debate, but will happily dissect the others' brains for you and give you his opinion on who is likely more intelligent and so most likely to be right.

All 3 would agree that black coated mods are hideous :)
