Just in case anybody might be interested, some reviews of the new Chefs super concentrates Tobaccos, I think I will grab a couple.
Maybe, just maybe, they're a poor mans Flavorah
they perhaps wouldn't stand toe to toe with flavorah no, but at the price point I'm impressed for sure! Barry T. Sasquatch (Sasq Shots)
Rather than spamming the group with several posts I'll put my impressions on the super concentrates on the comments on this thread.
You should all visit the woods by the way, it's pretty right now and cleans your soul. Make love not war. Barry T. Sasquatch (Sasq Shots).
All mixed at 3 drops per 10ml (recommended mix at 0.2-0.5%)
Fire cured
Strap yourselves in cos this is an odd one.
I don't get much tobacco but what's there is nice enough, pretty generic and inoffensive. What sits centre stage for me here is a lager top. It's fucking bizarre! It's actually a nice flavour to vape but it's not a fire cured tobacco by any stretch of the imagination. I'm gonna add a few more drops and test again but I'm telling you it's beer with a tobacco accent. Mind blown!
Tobacco Blend
Strangely vapes very similar to Stixx Honduran ligero although I'm sure it's not a NET. It's a pretty light flavour, sort of generic tobacco leaf with a natural feeling, almost metallic sweetness and a mild smokiness. I suppose your in cigar filler territory, it's the bass player rather than lead guitar for sure. These kind of flavours are really handy to pad out the dessert tobacco mixes and play well with fruits too so I'm not disappointed this hasn't rocked my world standalone. It's smooth, no spikey throat hit just a little tobacco tickle when exhaling through the nose.
Tobacco Traditional
Darker and a little sort of muddy or earthy. Some may say woody but I'm not so sure with this one. It's that tobacco base you get behind an ry4, pretty indistinct, soft edged, smooth and crying out for creams, caramels or custards. It's got that sweet and full mouthfeel again which is almost chocolatey, or is it more plummy? Its so blended with the tobacco it's hard to pinpoint, I guess you could equate it to a Cavendish. No throat hit for me, no noticeable spice, no real smokiness but it's silky and dirty and certainly has potential.
Tobacco gold
Quite a grassy feel to this one, whilst at the same time it has an almost creamy chocolatey dark, sweet fullness. It's a little like FA seven leaves but none of that gentle anise. I find this pleasant as it comes and can see this working very well standalone for a MTL vaper. Virginia rolling tobacco is obviously what they were aiming for and I think this comes close to that, that background note is helpful to tone down any peppery harshness and whilst a little drying it's not overly so. Good job!
American mild
I went in expecting a Marlborough light type of experience but that's not what this is. I appreciate it's been a while but I don't remember them having a floral note. This is a rare ol' flavour and I can't decide whether or not I like it. It's got that feel to it I get from a few FA tobaccos, quite light and almost herbal in nature and a little thin on mouthfeel. I can't put my finger on what I'm tasting, perhaps if I pushed it higher it'd come out or it'll steep away (these have only had a week) but it brings blossom or honeysuckle to mind. The tobacco element could work in a cigarette mix with something a little more robust, or it may work well with a menthol or even a lick of cherry.
Ry castle
First thing I got with this one is a very pleasant buttery thin caramel, like a butterscotch/caramel syrup almost. Then on the exhale you notice the husky coconut note which sits nicely against the tobacco and helps the toasted feel. There's a creamy mouthfeel to it too although it's light and dainty. This reminds me a little of Purilum's sweet tobacco which is no bad thing although this one is slightly more tobacco forward, it is only slightly though… This is more of a dessert flavour than a butch bacca fest. It's not quite gonna cut it standalone, for me at least, but in a mix I can see this being really useful.
Tobacco Ry4
What I get on this one is reminiscent of Jungle Flavours RY4 which isn't my favourite although I know lots of folk enjoy it. However this is another one that seems to need a couple more drops as it's very light so I'll reserve judgement till they steep in.
Tobacco Toasted pop
I either didn't actually put any concentrate in the bottle or this one is not as strong as the others because I'm not getting much flavour at all. Will revisit with 1.5%
