BBC News - Electronic cigarette company wins latest stage of battle against EU regulations

An electronic cigarette company has won the latest stage of its battle against planned new European regulations.

Blackburn-based Totally Wicked has been granted the right to challenge the EU Tobacco Products Directive (TPD), which is due to come into force in 2016.

The directive would see e-cigarettes classed as "tobacco-related products" even though they do not contain it.

It has to be said... Go-on TW!!

Great news, though I'm sure I read about this recently. Or I've developed the power of premonition. :D

Have to wait until the next sleeping in session(usually the morning after a night on the falling over watet):D
Alcohol induced memory gain ... works in reverse for me ... I must remember to get pissed more often. ;)

Maybe TW can finally start to build some bridges and make up for the original UKV fiasco by doing this.

I may not always agree with TW`s methods and practices but, as far as I`m aware, they are currently the only e-cig company that have actually legally challenged the TPD and for that I applaud them.

I`ve said for a long time that the TPD will not be defeated in Parliament but rather in court so I wish them every success in the challenge.

From personal experience, appealing to MP`s and the EU parliament is a soul destroying activity and usually felt like I was banging my head against a brick wall.

I hope the courts prove to be more sensible and less influenced by obvious, vested financial interests than EU politicians seem to be.

Still not sure I should hold my breath though.
