What's new

Trademarked names and flavours

It's gonna keep happening. Anyone selling products with other companies names on would do well to change them.
Welcome to the future.

check most tobacco flavoured juices.. they have similar names but very few are the same as the original and use the colours and design styles of the original brands to identify them.

im suprised i havnt seen "golden virgin" rather than golden virginia yet tbh.

imagine the logo they could use :O

A lot of logos are even trickier to use, words can be considered to be in general usage, but companies regularly trademark specific colour and font combinations. Cadbury's even tried to trademark the colour purple recently. Normally with a trademark though the mark is specific to a particular type of goods or service. You can have two companies with the same name e.g. Corus which was used by both the steel company and a hotel chain I once worked for, but the two companies can't sue each other for breach of trademark because the trademarks have to designate specific industries, or at least that is the case in the UK

BMW pissed me off when they started hassling businesses that used the word'Mini'in their brand name'MINIWORLD' for example. This was both a popular Mini car magazine and also a car parts supplier that concentrated entirely on the one make of car. When it was pointed out to BMW that they couldn't really expect designers of 60's skirts, Cadbury s chocolate rolls etc to cease using the word'Mini'in their brands, they stfu. To me though, the damage was done and I've hated BMW and their products, drivers ever since.
