Trouble Across The Pond; Anti-vape legislation on the rise in the States

I know he's not flavour (no pun intended) of the month on this forum but Grimm did talk about this, at quite some length a while back. In the States it would seem that for the first time in decades, Big Tobacco has seen a real and consistent drop in its revenue.

Whilst we (POTVs) and Grimm see vaping as a real, life changing, possibly life saving option, Big Tobacco is a business and there is a lot of money tied up. It's my understanding that specific US States benefit greatly from tobacco revenue. Essentially the purse strings are getting too tight for comfort it would seem.

In San Fransisco tobacco companies spent a shit ton of money battling against the flavour ban, they didn't support it at all. ... because it effects their products, like menthol fags and flavoured tobaccos. They were actually our allies in that battle, the problem comes from vaping products being classed no different to tobacco products. Therefore any laws (and anyone who supports them and votes for them) that are essentially attacking tobacco companies will almost always have a negative effect on vaping companies too. That's exactly what's happened here. It was voted for by the public, an anti-tobacco product public.

There’s an argument to say that their support for flavoured juices was simply a chess move towards market domination.

The money they threw at the campaign, while massive in our terms ($12M), is a drop in the ocean for them.

Theywill have known the reaction their involvement would have provoked. Known and planned for.

I remain convinced that if you get into bed with snakes you’re going to get bitten. It was a total error to join forces with tobacco companies. They have one goal and it isn’t for the vape market to survive - it’s for Big T to thrive.

If vape is ever to achieve mainstream global acceptance then it will only come about from an independent market. Accepting baccy cash taints everything - and that’s why the San Fran vote was lost.

Yep guilt by association. Vaping needs to distance itself from tobacco as far as possible
