Trouble with the kanger protank rebuilding

I keep trying to rebuild the kanger protank coil - twice with cotton and twice with silica. 0.16mm nichrome. Four or five coils. Started on low voltages. They don't recognise on the mod and one actually split the wire. Following the directions as per Grimm greens YouTube guide. No flavor wick. One wire outside the rubber grommet and the other inside with the heating core in the middle. Any ideas?

I've done it before and it's worked!

I've tried more - gone up to 7. It just glows hot and splits the wire in all instances! :(

Better with a bit thicker kanthal.
Or make a microcoil out your .16 nichrome and feed the cotton through at the end.
Works for me using from .15 A1 up to .30 not tried any thicker

Your wires are touching down on the base for sure.

the wire that goes through the rubber grommet will naturally sit on one side of the grommet so before you push the fire pin in just push the wire to the opposite side it's sitting on and push your pin in. Clip the legs and make sure they are tucked in and not showing

turn the base over so you can see the coil and using a pin just push the coils together so they are all even

hopefully this will stop your coil shorting out.

As the member before said get some kanthal

good luck

So the wires shouldn't be touching the mod base essentially? Because I THINK that could be the problem. I think I've been more careful in the past.

Any advice for a cheap nichrome/kanthal wire website?

One wire will touch the base = the negative the other touches the centre post of the coil = the positive through the rubber grommet .

i get my kanthal from the mesh company on eBay £7/£8 for 50m
