Roll up... Roll up

Hello my fellow vapers today we have a kit from Uwell, the Caliburn G2. This was very kindly sent to me from Healthcabin.

As always this review is my own thoughts and not associated with anyone from Healthcabin or POTV. Nor have I been paid for my thoughts.

Abit about the kit....

Uwell have become a strong name in the vaping bussiness whether it be there sub ohm tanks, big mods or pod kits. This new one is next in line to the very popular caliburn series. I wanted to give this kit a go as I wasn't a great fan of the original although very popular it wasn't quite tight enough for me, so I was very happy when I saw that uwell had added a airflow system to this new kit.
I recieved my kit in the gradient colour but there is 6 colour options available.

Mod....

The first thing your notice with this kit is the juice window wahoo! No more pod kit where you're guessing when the coil will burn out this is a very welcome addition. Also how light it is making it very pocket friendly. Uwell haven't changed alot from the original with it weighing the same and having the same form factor. They have however added a couple of different inbuilt safety features.

It's the usual 5 clicks on/off and the led light will flash 3 times. You can either press the button when vaping or use the auto draw feature which works perfectly with no delay or change in vape quality. The led light also works as a battery light and will change through 3 different colours depending on what percentage you have left these are:

Green 100-60%
Blue 60-30%
Red 30-0%

When the device is completely depleted of battery the light will flash 10 times and you can charge the 750Mah battery via type C fast charging which I found to take around 30 minutes. The charging port can be found on the bottom of the device

Uwell have gone with a different approach to there safety features where they have added a vibration sequence to each battery safety alert these are:

• Short circuit – LED will flash red three times and vibrate four times

• Low voltage – LED will flash red ten times and vibrate three times

• Over time – LED will blink green five times and vibrate twice

• Open Circuit – LED will blink blue three times and vibrate twice

The device will vibrate twice when you ought it in to charge. During the charge the LED will change from red through blue to green.

Once charging is complete, the device will vibrate once and the LED will remain a solid green.

Pod....

The pod uwell have used is a clear plastic, with a duck style mouth piece which snaps on and off to refill. The difference with this to the original is the size of the mouthpiece which has been made bigger to help cater for a different variety of vaper due to the adjustable airflow ring.

When snapping the mouthpiece off you have an air hole and a filling port this is the hole with the red bung around it. Filling is simple and with the air hole there's no messy pods or air bubbles.

The kit uses no magnets the pod just simply clicks into place I was abit sceptical of this at first but I've had no problems with the pods moving or falling out as of yet.

I did however quickly realise you should/ will have to remove the pods when left over night or for a period of time as there was quite abit of juice leaking from mine after a day or so of being left.

Coils....

This kit uses plug and play coils and uwell supply you with 2 different coil options they are the 1.2ohm and 0.8ohm coils. They're the same coils which fit the original meaning there's also a 1ohm coil available for the kit which is sold separately. However the 1.2ohm is a new addition to the range I Started with this coil and was impressed straight away a cool vape but being higher Ohms it works best with higher nic salts its a smooth vape and does what it should very well. I found this coil to last just over a week before changing and the battery lasted most of the day this is obviously dependent on how much you vape.

I then changed to the 0.8ohm coil, this coil for me produced better flavour although even with the airflow adjustment is more open therefore I would tend to opt for the 1.2 ohm Coil. This coil worked well with both 50/50 and 70/30 juices and lasted over a week.

I found the airflow adjustment ring to work very well and make a big difference In vaping it really does turn this device from a very tight mtl to a restricted DL vape and its simply the case of spinning the wheel. I had no problems with this adjustment becoming loose or moving once the pod is connected either.

Pros and Niggles...

Pros...

• Great flavour
• 3 coil options
• Adjustable airflow
• Easy to use
• Lots of safety measures
• Juice window
• Fast charging
• Good battery life
• Replaceable coils
• Autodraw works great
• Comfortable mouthpiece

Cons..

• Noticed a fair bit of leaking when left with pod in (possibly through airflow wheel)

Overall thoughts...

As you can tell from the pros and Niggles there isn't to much I don't like about this kit. I think uwell have taken an already very well loved product tweaked it by adjustable airflow to cater to a larger crowd and nailed the basics. This kit produces great flavour and can be used as a daily mtl carry or a rdl vape. I would reccomend this to new vaper who are looking to mimic a cigarette draw as you can really dial in the wheel to almost impossible to vape type draw.

Obviously if you remove the pod from the device over night or when left it will eliminate the worry of juice leaking into the device or fully close the wheel each time. This is something that maybe uwell can try to fix on the next version of the kit.

Scores on the doors....

Flavour- 9/10
Vapour production- 6/10
Build quality- 9.5 /10
Ease of use- 9.5/10

As always a massive thank you to sue at @Healthcabin for sending me this over for review its very much appriciated.

Nice review @Sam Andrews, sounds like they're going in the right direction with the airflow.

Oddly though, despite all the pods I've tried and reviewed over the last eighteen months, I've still never used a Caliburn. I feel like I must be the only one sometimes.

I must've used pretty much all of them by now, except, perhaps, the most ubiquitous. Strange, eh?

Nice review Sam, looks like a great bit of kit but they need to sort out the leaking!

Good review and mine LEAKS in the same place. Many online leak complaints. Pity there was no spare pod in the package. The best part is that uwell will not send a replacement pod housing as its not covered by their warranty.
