This is a personal review of a product I either bought or received free of charge. The opinions expressed here represent my own and not those of this website, planetofthevapes.co.uk

I have been rather lax of late with my reviews and i apologise for that, but work/personal life sometimes gets in the way!

I am going to review the Vambrace from http://www.hengestandhorsa.com/

When i originally saw the quality of work, thoughts sprung up of big bearded Vikings drinking ale of a night and grabbing the serving wenches as they walked past with big jugs of frothing ale.

These guys are quite simply amazing and with some of the best leather working skills i have ever seen.
Way back in October there was a thread in the forum showing some of their work.
This inspired me to buy a Vambrace for my Vamo, and by the Allfather i am so glad i did!

Hengist & Horsa will do any designs that you may care for, within reason, if they can tool the design then they will.
This is also at no extra charge, you can also have the leather dyed to your own specification.

The leather is worked and shaped specifically for the Vamo, thoroughly stitched all round, and then laced up the back to provide some adjustability.
For my design i asked for some Authentic Viking workings, these being Hugin and Munin, Odin's ravens, who fly round the world each day gleaning all the information they can from the the people of Midgard, before flying back at sunset and telling Odin what has been happening.

Each Vambrace is original to each owner, and no two will ever be the same, it took nearly 3 weeks for me to receive my Vambrace and at the cost of £30 including the postage.
This was most definitely worth the wait, and i cannot recommend these guys highly enough.
All through the making of the Vambrace, i dealt with Roy, and communication was top notch, they consult you at every stage so that what you receive is perfected for you.

If you like your Vamo but not sold on a wrap, then buy a vambrace, it is worth the money and then some!
I could not recommend Hengist & Horsa enough, you will not be disappointed!

All i can say, is go for it!
They are brilliant guys and although busy, go out of their way to help you and make sure everything is done to your specification!

That's smashing Doofry; I bet you're delighted with it.

I love the texture and the colour too - If I could have it, all my vaping kit would be in shades of green, because I'm peculiar that way, from a historian/archaeologist's POV it's great to see Anglo-Saxon/Viking style symbolism used on vaping equipment & accessories instead of the usual Chinese and Tribal stuff; and from an artist's POV, they've done a very faithful copy of the style. I wish there was more of it :D

Well, i am into my Norse mythology and use runes regularly, and the whole viking theme will be used in my new business when i leave the RN.
The Vambrace just feels so right in the hand, the vamo can look a bit unwieldy but now it is a lot more unique, and for the price, it's no contest!

Nice one mate, that's a unique looking vamo you've got there!
Thanks for sharing the pics with us.

The business sounds really interesting, are you ready to give us a clue what it is or will you keep it under wraps a wee while longer? FGS don't go into health & safety like my pa did when he left the RN! :D

Until recently I worked as a volunteer for the Portable Antiquities Scheme unit based the local museum photographing local archaeological finds and we got a few Viking ones as this area was one of the early Danish settlement areas - lots of Viking/Danish place names; Viking find items are still pretty thin on the ground, but wonderful to see when they do appear. The best stuff I've seen has been in the Museums in Norway.

The British Museum vas a Viking exhibition coming up from March 6th to June 22nd if you're into that sort of stuff, there was an article in last weekend's Sunday times magazine about it (I can scan it & send you a pdf if you want); this article is mostly about how well groomed the Vikings were (and how flash their kit was compared to the locals!), which is true, there are accounts written at the time about how the local Anglo-Saxon women fancied them more than the local men as the Vikings brushed their hair and beards every day and even had a bath every Saturday (it's basically the same old story now, a flash bloke with money hits the town on a Saturday night and pulls the ladies!) :D

LilyRed theres no secret, i am going to set up a shop, Myths & Magic style, lots of stones and selling various arcana, i will be making jewellery (tin and silversmithing) as well as selling Vape gear, i will be relocating to Berwick, which in itself is good as my dad lives there and northumberland is steeped in viking history and lore.
I use runes for reading etc, and it has been a long hobby and passion, even have a massive runebind on my right arm, and trying to design something for my left arm.
I have gotten to the point where i am no longer happy working on Helicopters and need a change in direction, Berwick seems the best place to start my new journey, and if i can get everything sorted i will start Vape meets up there too!

For my own peace of mind....

Weren't Hengist and Horsa the 2 cave dwellers from Carry on Cleo?
