Just got back from the Vape Expo at the NEC.

I’ve been to Expos previously, not in the last few years for obvious reasons but this certainly wasn’t my first. This years Expo though was, by far, the worst for lack of vendors and the smallest crowd I’d ever seen.

I saw a lot of people saying they weren’t going as they suspected it would be wall to wall disposables…. They weren’t wrong! I’d say at least 40% of the stands were purely disposable sellers and that 90% had some sort of disposable on their stand. Actually found myself getting a tad annoyed and @LDotKDot telling me to be nice to all the sales staff approaching me trying to push me to their disposable shite stand. I ended up simplify saying I do not touch disposables and walking away.

On the drive home Lizzie said to me “Why are they selling disposables at what is a usually a more vape hobbyist event?”…. I wonder the same myself. I hear a lot from people pushing these devices “Oh they are great for people getting off the cigs and a good gateway to proper Vaping”…. Well, as today showed, they clearly don’t believe their own bollocks. Walking around I saw a vast amount of people using different devices from higher end setups to pod systems. What I didn’t see was anyone, away from a stand, using a disposable.

We wanted to buy a number of devices for the website today. If I’d have wanted disposables (I’d rather chop a testicle off first) I’d have come home with thousands of the buggers, but I wanted proper devices. So what devices did we get for the site? Nothing, nada, zip. I asked numerous wholesalers, manufacturers etc but all the stock they brought was disposables, their actual devices were “For show only”.

So will I be going in October? Yes. I won’t be bothering visiting stands though, I’ll do what was the most enjoyable part of today and made the drive worth while, I’ll be at the bar area chatting to fellow Vapers and friends.

I didn’t know whether I’d bother posting a little opinion piece I wrote on disposables on the site, didnt know if I could be arsed with potential issues etc. After today though, I made it live on the drive home. I tried to be diplomatic but I did write it a few weeks ago…

I’ve just seen a video by @vapesmarter and I’m happy to see he had a lot of the same thoughts myself and Lizzie did.

Good on you mate. Glad you are making a stand against all this shite. Think the excuses for disposables are wearing a bit thin.

Swimming against the tide though mate, events like today just reinforce the fact these disposables are destroying Vaping as we know it but greed seems to be taking over.

Would have been a 620 mile round trip for me. For disposables?!? Get pumped...

You saved yourself a trip!

If I hadn’t have got to chat to a few people I hadn’t seen in years and have a good laugh with them, I’d have been annoyed I made the trip and was only 55 miles for us.

Good on ya, and nicely put. :clapping:

Spot on Chris. I also believe that disposables will encourage the young and curious who've never smoked to try vaping even more, due to the fuss free convenience of the things. THINK OF THE KIDS, SAVE THE CHILDREN [emoji849]

Anyway, good to see you all, don't know if anyone's going tomorrow (Craig and I are), but if a few more apes are planning a visit in October, I might take a punt too, otherwise I'll hold out for a proper old style vape meet.

a video me, never I am a very shy person.....

but in good old "Blue Peter" fashion.....here's one I did earlier

in reflection, upon watching and listening to other people I would say there is no better time than an event to be held by this forum. I would rather pay £30 to enter an event run by people who really vape for people that really vape proper setups not free be hunters or disposables but members on here who have known each other for what 3, 4, 6, 10 years and with vendors that can provide a service be it coils mods advice ???

I give the scene of vaping 12 months before it really crumbles and all we have is plastic disposables or heated tobacco products. I think we don't have to worry about big tobacco, tobacco-free kids the tpd 3, 4, or 5 as the industry is killing itself.
