had the vapor shark dna 40 about a week now and noticed a couple of things.. first was surprised at how heavy it was. feels great in the hand and nice size.
but onto the thread title in hand.
the battery life. or more accurately the charging status and battery status bar.
finding it very dissapointing and innaccurate.
one minute im vaping and battery shows full. over the period of the day the battery status dips down to around 3/4. then in space of an hour or so on from that it will just drop suddenly to 1/4 power then zero power.
and charging is a similar thing. the status doesnt seem to move for ages then will go 3/4 full then full but can be another 45 minutes or more before the led goes from red to green.

theres no percentage indicator and theres not even a charging indicator on the battery meter. jut old fashioned red or green LED ring around the fire button. you dont even get a mid status amber ring.

Why oh why is this omitted from the elvov chip / vaopr shark? surely a percentage indicator and a charging lighting symbol in the battery bar would be far better. its got a bloody great display on it so not like theres no room for it.

dont get me wrong its a great mod and im more than happy with it but when im out and about id prefer to have a halfway accurate warning of when the things going to die on me. not suddenly go from 3/4 to sero in space of an hour or less, thats just ludicrous.

not like im pushing the power eitehr im in wattge mode a 1.2 ohm coil in the gimlet tank and around 12-13 watts.
The battery is the one that comes included with it though ive no idea what the actual battery is ( part number on it is LGDBHE21065 and below that N266I1232A3

wonder if a purple efest or some otehr battery may be better?
anyone own a vapor shark and have changed battery and if so what did they change it to?

Samething happens to both my rDNA and Sunbox
It has gotten to the point where they have been consigned to "stay at home" status

Evolv has really dropped the ball with the DNA40 board :(

Im giving it a couple of weeks until some user reports come out about the SX350J before jumping on that band wagon

should have said its the RDNA40 not the smaller DNA 40 VS with the inbuilt battery.

just thought if battery is flaky and tailing off rapidly then maybe a different battery might help.
bit of checking revels its supposed to be an LG 2500mah 35A 18650 Battery though ive no idea how these compare with some of the otehr batteries out there

Been vaping on mine and swapping between Kanthal and NI tanks for two days at 25 - 38watts.only a couple of times I have noticed battery level drop right down if it`s been stood for a short time, but soon goes back up again once fired.

its an odd one. and also worryingly i just had the screen go all fucked up on it. switched to a 0.2 ohm ni200 build in the gimlet tank, set temp to 430 and gave it a try and found it to be a lot more muted than the kanthal 1.2 ohm at 13 watts.
seems alot cooler vape too, then without warning screen became a pixelated mess.
took out battery put in back in and its ok now.. but has alarm bells ringing. if ive got a duff one i know its under warranty but i have no clue if vapor shark cover the UK and from what ive read after a google there customer service isnt exactly great, plus having to ship it back to the US would be bloody costly.

its the large screen version so im assuming thats v2 as well.
after all the clones ive had with no issues whatsoever in the past 2 years the last 3 genuine original devices have all been problematic. my istick 20 watt had a bad pin and a loose top plate which then decided to vent on me and die.
my smok xpro m80 plus died within 24 hours with bad wiring and a lousy 510 pin and the wire to the pin snapped off inside.
and now this one.

yet my clone hana modz which is a year old apart from a slightly flaky USB port thats only happened recently through use ( common on micro usb ports they are quite frankly shit and should be scrapped) that needs the cable slightly angled to charge its never missed a beat, all atties work on it and it does the job with no issues.

Apparently its a fault on the chip but some folks (Evolv) say that it is supposed to display real time battery life. Mine does the same - I put it down to the chip.

seems a bit iffy to me battery shouldnt go from full to 3/4 epty then suddenly zero out.

i know there was issue with the evolv v1 chip but i thought this was fixed with the large screen v2.
so much for fucking genuine mods . at least with chinese clones you dont have high expectations.
fucks me right off

Aye, me too. If you pull the battery out and then put it back in when say its half empty, fire it once it will tell you the true reading. Sometimes mine even does a true reading right through the battery life. Its a bit of a piss take as UKecigstore tell me that Evolv know there's a problem, whilst people elsewhere are reporting that Evolv say its working correctly.

Off another forum, but from Evolv

"The battery indicator is basically an estimation of the remaining number of hits the chip thinks you’ll get out of the battery at your current settings. It comes up with this number based on the most recent fired wattage. Stay with me, here’s where it gets complicated. If you’re using a temperature controlled coil, as the coil hits the temp you’ve set, it will lower the wattage to maintain that temperature. The chip uses this lower number as its guide for reporting the battery level. So how does this impact the user experience? Well, it flat out appears as if there’s a software glitch because you can put in a somewhat discharged battery, if you take a hit and it throttles down to something like 5 watts, it will estimate a huge number of hits left and the battery indicator will actually report that the battery is completely full when you look at the indicator. I’m going to have to use the device more to get a better idea of how much warning you get when your battery is very low. I spent a lot of time on this section because to be honest, this REALLY pissed me off thinking I had a second bad build. So the tl;dr of this paragraph goes like this: if you get a DNA40 and it looks like it magically charges itself, it’s not defective, it’s how Evolv chose to display the battery to the user. What it represents is the estimated number of hits left based on your current settings. The indicator will appear to jump around if you change your settings. It’s completely counter-intuitive compared to say just simply reporting a % based on the actual voltage of the battery."

its a pile of shit is what it is.
at least the smok xpro give a proper indication both when in use and when charging. shows the battery level in good old fashioned % numbers.. and a little moving bar when charging too .

Strange I do have a VS rDNA40 but haven't had to change the battery as I can vape all day at .5ohms at 20 watts and still have power left at lunchtime the next day. Perhaps there was a batch of dud battery's that got put out with some of the devices
