The first image is from my old GP PAPS X 1.5 and the spring is as good as it was with plenty of beef about it. The second is a PAPS some’n - I don’t recall maybe a V4? The spring has disintegrated.

where can I source a suitable replacement?

How much tension is in the spring? You might be able to wrap your own in silver, done it myself for a couple of purge mods.

good shout, not sure on the tension but could approximate I’m sure. What gauge silver wire?

Just had a look on the palmer site, if I was a betting man, I seem to recollect half hard 1.2mm
