So I made up 100ml of capella v1 custard (13%), 50ml of TPA strawberries and cream (12%) and 100ml of capella banana split (13%) this morning. Shaked all until my arm was sore and then gave them all a warm water bath for 2-3 hours.

They've all rapidly changed colours - the banana and the custard have gone an orange colour (even though the banana concentrate was clear and the custard was yellow) and the strawberries and cream went yellow (clear coloured concentrate). Is this normal?

Also the banana split tastes really weird - it smells like a really strong banana and just tastes super sweet and sickly - vapable said to mix at 15% but I went for 13% because I didn't want it to be too strong. Anyone have any experience with this flavour? Do I need to leave the cap off for a few days in a dark place?

The custard tastes fucking amazing already, gonna leave that one for a while though before I give it a proper verdict.

Also mixed up 50ml of TPA tutti fruity - no steep required and tastes just like the 1p fruit salads you used to get from the corner shop :)

Cap Vanilla custard v1 does go a pretty shade of orange/brown (depending on the batch). Capella sweet strawberry turns a bright yellow so I would imagine that strawberry and cream does the same.

To me the banana sounds like it's too strong. I have to be honest, the only banana flavours I can stand are LorAnn Banana cream and CCW Banana custard.

Yep, the colour change is normal, shaking the bottle until the mix becomes cloudy with air bubbles and repeating a couple of times will usually get your juice to the point of pretty much perfectly steeped in about 24 Hours. The warm water bath will help but only if you've got air into the juice...

Sigh. And they recommend on their site to mix it at 15%...

What would you suggest doing with it? Ideally I don't wanna chuck it, would leaving it without a cap dampen the taste a little?

D'oh!

I really should read the thread properly.

TFA Ripe strawberry also turns yellow (but not as much as Capella) so strawberry and cream should be the same

You can make a zero flavour mix at same nic strength and blend.
I would be inclined to leave it for a week to see if it improves first.

You can try leaving the cap off for a bit. I think I ended up letting mine steep for about 3 months. Personally I would steep it for a week and if it's no better mix up some unflavoured juice and start cutting it with 10% unflavoured at a time until you get something vapeable

I just made up 25ml of base (8mg nic, 70vg/30pg) and threw in 20ml of the 13% mix.. can't be bothered to do the exact math but I'm guessing the new mix is now around 7-7.5%. It's a lot more tolerable now. Gonna leave for a week or 2 and see if the flavour really improves or not.

Cheers for the help oldhippydude and rughead121
